Description
The Programming team is responsible for annual schedule creation and operationalizing high quality live Sports properties/rights to customers, across all Prime Video product lines and devices. We work closely with internal and external partners, including Leagues and Teams, to bring sports to life on Prime Video.
Key job responsibilities
This role requires a mix of Schedule planning and creation for PV Sports properties including, but not limited to, the New York Yankees, NWSL, NASCAR, WNBA, NFL Thursday Night Football and NHL Monday Night Hockey in Canada and rights management/adherence. In addition, it will lead the end-to-end Programming function and launch readiness roadmap for the Live Sports team and is responsible for post-event reporting, analysis and tracking.
The Programming Manager will work cross functionally with partner teams including Production, Strategy, Marketing, Ad Sales, Legal, PR, Product, etc. and externally with Prime Video’s partners at Leagues and Teams. You will evaluate the steady state and develop mechanisms to improve the customer experience and our rights portfolio.
A day in the life
As the Programming Manager, you are also responsible for leading the end-to-end programming launch readiness roadmap for the Live Sports team. Programming Managers assume the responsibility of organizational interdependencies with other teams (e.g., Production, Finance, Ad Sales & Operations, Content Acquisitions, Business Affairs, Business Development, and other corporate stakeholders) to ensure business continuity for property and annual event launches.

A successful Programming team candidate is a self-starter and possesses the ability to complete high volumes of complex tasks and projects quickly, and reacts with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require immediate response and turnaround. The candidate has a proven track record taking on end-to-end ownership and is effective at delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment. The candidate will be able to spot an issue, drive decision making, and escalate matters that have risk impact.

The candidate has deep knowledge and experience managing rights agreements, scheduling/programming acumen, is data driven and has familiarity with Sports broadcast production. High level competency and experience with overall Sports Programming processes including scheduling builds and planning, project management, and generating alignment across multiple partner teams during launch preparation through operational oversight.
Experience launching, operating, managing, and delivering results in a live Sports Programming role. Proven track record of working cross functionally to lead and earn trust with multiple stakeholders across various departments through written and verbal communication.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $111,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. - Plan, build, manage and distribute live event/game schedules based on our rights portfolio to maximize value and customer engagement.
- Lead the launch and annual re-launch of our rights properties across Prime Video to ensure flawless holistic execution.
- Manage rightsholder relationships with external partners at Leagues and Teams.
- Compile, track and distribute viewership reports to internal and external partners, including the preparation, organization and analysis contained in reports
- Drive synergy with stakeholder teams including production, content acquisition, ad sales, business affairs, business development, finance, and operations to create, implement and improve new and existing processes.
- Manage relationship with external partners to organize all cross-functional communications, presentations, approvals, and ad hoc activities required.
- Customer Obsess over internal and external programming stakeholders.
- Ensure contingency planning is in place for our live events
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 8+ years experience in Programming, Strategy and/or Media
- Experience working in Sports broadcasting, content creation, programming and / or production.
- Experience working with Sports Teams, League's and/or Media Companies/Networks
- Experience working with Nielsen or similar 1P viewership data
