Job Description

Reporting to the SVP of Operations, the Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading JDE USA’s sourcing efforts. In this role you will be expected to develop and execute sourcing strategies to drive value and significantly impact bottom-line profitability for JDE USA in the following categories:

  • Contract Manufacturing – Kitchen Electrics, Blending, Filling, Assembly
  • Tea Blends and related Components (string/tags)
  • Packaging Materials – Corrugated, Paperboard, Films/Foils,
  • Services - Testing Labs, Engineering, Consultants, Agencies
  • Remanufacturing

Our business is growing rapidly and we need a candidate that will provide creative, strategic solutions to complex opportunities. Having the ability to motivate and create compelling proposals to move the organization forward is paramount, including the ability to implement these proposals.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Identify, audit, develop suppliers and maintain supplier relationship in support of JDE USA’s product development and manufacturing efforts.
  • Closely cooperate with Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, and Marketing to source components and services globally that meet product specifications and beat cost targets.
  • Together with Quality, coordinate and execute supplier quality systems reviews and audits. Utilize Supplier Corrective Action process as a component of measuring supplier performance.
  • Develop sourcing strategies at the category and supplier level to optimize JDE USA’s competitiveness, reduce supply chain risk, and improve product quality.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to optimize product cost while negotiating favorable contractual terms, including payment terms, lead-time, CAPEX, and continuity of supply.
  • Analyze the cost breakdown of components and finished goods, including market trends and pricing, and integrate the data into sourcing strategies that optimize product cost and quality.
  • Continually identify and implement new opportunities for Cost Savings and Cost Avoidance and proactively track progress toward these objectives.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships from sample to mass production in alignment with New Product Development timelines.
  • Proactively manage supplier performance and conduct supplier performance evaluations with corrective action requirements and productivity targets.

The ideal candidate has a strong, demonstrated background in warehouse/distribution management with experience leading a workforce. The candidate must be a hands-on, detail oriented analytical individual who can balance the strategic and tactical direction to drive continuous improvement and achieve organizational objectives. Additionally, the ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering results and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple work streams simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance or related discipline
  • Masters degree is highly preferred
  • 7+ years of Supply Chain experience
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in a Strategic Sourcing role
  • Experience sourcing components and services in low-cost countries
  • Must enjoy a fast paced, dynamic environment and an inherent nature to solve complex problems
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, strategic sourcing, and supplier management concepts
  • Proficient with managing and understanding cross-cultural business practices
  • Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity
  • Proficient at thinking and acting strategically, championing change, and generating innovative solutions
  • Strong negotiations and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on a daily basis
