Essential Functions, Primary Responsibilities And Objectives

The Student Life Programming Coordinator assists the Manager of Student Life with the planning, implementation, and operation of the Department’s Programming and Student Organizations. Programs will focus on offering student-centered activities that encourage engagement, involvement, and leadership. These include, but are not limited to, orientations, annual student-centered events, and collaborations with other departments, all which support the mission of the Student Engagement Division and the College. Valid Driver’s License required.

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Manager of Student Life with the planning and execution of major student-centered events (i.e., new student orientations, Homecoming festivities, Spring Flings, off-campus trips, and other themed events). Recruits and transports students to assist with, and participate in, these activities and events.
  • Supports opportunities for students to participate in co-curricular student experiences. These include appropriate facilitation and supervision of organizational activities and involvement opportunities that enhance the overall educational experiences of students through development of, exposure to, and participation in social, cultural, multicultural, intellectual, recreational, community service, and student governance.
  • Assist with creating a schedule of appealing, diverse, innovative, and varied programming activities each semester, working within specific budget parameters as established by the Manager of Student Life; while collaborating with other departments including Residence Life.
  • Research and plan activities and excursions that have a learning component, and all associated logistics.
  • Serve as an advisor for a student organization and attend weekly meetings; attend all Campus Club Coalition meetings and assist with the group’s activities and initiatives each semester.
  • Update multi- media sites and the Virtual Student Union continuously.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Angeli Hall Student Lounge area, specifically gaming equipment, TVs, and furniture, to ensure all are in good repair and usable (requesting Maintenance support as needed), as well as maintaining an adequate supply of gaming equipment.
  • Supervise and coordinate work schedules for work-study students to facilitate maximum staffing levels of the Angeli Hall Student Lounge and programming events.
  • Submit data monthly to monitor interest, attendance, cost, etc., for events, and adjusting programming offerings based upon feedback.
  • Maintain campus food pantry including organizing, restocking, and ordering.
  • Responsible for following College purchasing procedures and timelines, using

systems and policies to enter requisitions and create purchase orders for vendors, etc. and following deadlines in a timely manner.

  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and address the needs of a diverse community varied in its ethnic composition and abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Solid computer skills.

Education

  • High school diploma required, associate’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Prior experience working with students.
  • Experience dealing with interpersonal conflict resolution.
  • Experience with scheduling and managing multiple responsibilities.
