Overview

We are seeking a UI/UX Specialist for a large-scale modernization project. The Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) is going through a large-scale modernization of many of its core application systems. These applications and data are being consolidated and will be hosted as one application system in the Microsoft Azure cloud. The modernization effort (OnBoard) and the associated software delivery will occur incrementally. The OnBoard program roadmap will consist of multiple, discrete projects leading to the final, to-be WCB enterprise-wide software solution hosted in Azure, resulting in the sunsetting of all legacy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals. Employ critical thinking to solve complex design challenges.
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes to communicate design concepts.
  • Conduct user profiling and testing
  • Ability to acquire business acumen to design solutions.
  • Create visual communication and UI
  • Produce clear and concise UX writing
  • Knowledge of accessible design and standards
  • Plan and facilitate design thinking workshops (e.g., journey mapping, user needs modeling, etc.)
  • Create UX deliverables including but not limited to sketches, user stories, user flows, and interactive prototypes
  • Plan and conduct usability testing sessions.
  • Work closely with developers to bring designs to life and iteratively improve solutions.
  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative UX metrics that support usability validation.
  • Design for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts.

Mandatory Skills/ Qualifications

  • Must have between four (4) and seven (7) years of experience as a UI/ UX specialist.
  • Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping.
  • Experience with user profiling and testing.
  • Effective UX writing skills.

Desirable Skills/ Qualifications

  • Experience in planning and facilitating design thinking workshops.
  • Experience creating UX deliverables such as sketches, user stories, user flows, and interactive prototypes.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing UX metrics.
  • Experience designing for multi-device contexts (web, iOS, and Android).
  • Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Balsamiq.
