Our Specialty Human Services division is looking for a Underwriting Territory Supervisor to join their team. The lines of coverage include package, auto, and umbrella. The person hired for this position will be fully remote. We are only looking for candidates who reside in the following states: Alabama, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and has a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Provides training to new members of the team.
  • Has accountability for own risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability (per divisional objectives) decisions and those made by members of the team/unit.
    • Empowers employees to use independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
    • Oversees analysis of coverage and limit requests and decisions for what terms to offer.
    • Ensures business is priced in accordance with company guidelines.
    • Assesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actions.
    • Ensures that appropriate reports are available, accessed, and appropriately used for rating and underwriting processes.
  • Ensures that effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers are developed and maintained in order to attract and retain profitable business.
  • Leads by example in providing excellent customer service. Compiles statistics and reports on service levels, activity, and customer experience. Identifies and recommends appropriate changes to processes and/or procedures to increase customer service/satisfaction.
  • Administers, applies, and may update underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepares reports to communicate this information.
  • This position will require less than 10% of travel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study: Business, Liberal Arts or a related discipline.

Experience: Generally, 3 to 5 years related experience, including 0 to 2 years of leadership experience. Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred; appropriate certifications could include Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS) or Associate of Risk Management (ARM).

Within the range, individual pay takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skills, education, training, licensure and certifications, experience of the candidate, the role's scope, complexity, and other business and organizational needs. In addition to the base compensation, we offer a competitive Total Rewards package, which includes but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and 401(k) plan for full-time and part-time employees who are eligible for benefits.
