We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our Payroll team in New York. This position will support the coordinating and processing of payroll for the Americas, and involves working very closely with our global Payroll team.
You will be responsible for the timely preparation and accurate processing of our payroll, which includes friendly customer service to colleagues and responding to their payroll questions. You’ll also work closely with HR and other internal teams to ensure all tax reporting, benefits-records administration, and payroll issues are handled accurately and responsibly.
Additional responsibilities of this role will include:
Preparing updates to payroll records, monitoring changes in compensation, and completing month-end, quarterly, and annual processes
Partnering with our global Payroll team on expat payroll implications associated with employee mobility
Assisting with semi-monthly payroll reports, reconciliations, and review of year-end tax forms
Working with the Banking team on funding payroll and assisting the Payroll Financial Reporting team on queries tied to the monthly close
Providing support during audits
Maintaining payroll and internal control procedures
Keeping up with best practices and current payroll laws and regulations
Recommending ways to improve and automate payroll processes, including collaborating with our Workday team on system updates and enhancements
Contributing to ad hoc projects related to process improvements, system enhancements, and broader team/firm initiatives

About You
5+ years of Americas focused payroll experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field
Experience with Workday HR/Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance preferred
Has a solid understanding of multi-state payroll taxes
Handles sensitive information with good judgment and discretion
Intellectually curious and willing to learn
Organized with great communication skills; able to build strong collaborative relationships across various groups within the firm
Excellent time management skills; able to handle competing priorities and work effectively in a challenging, fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and critical thinker; detail-oriented with a “can-do” attitude when resolving issues
Self-motivated to improve and automate processes where possible
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
The base salary for this role is $110,000-$150,000. Base salary is only one part of Jane Street total compensation, which also includes an annual discretionary bonus.
