Position Title: Vice President for Finance and Treasurer

Reports to: President

Supervises: Assistant VP for Finance and Assistant Treasurer, Director of Financial Planning and Assistant Treasurer, Assistant VP for Financial Aid, Director of Bookstore, Director of Events and Conference Services, Outsourced Investment Services, Outsourced Insurance Services, and Outsourced Food Service.

The Position: The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer reports to the President and plays a central and pivotal role in developing and implementing Saint Vincent College's strategic, operational and financial plans. The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer is responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for Saint Vincent College, in conjunction with the board of trustees and the audit, finance, and investment committees of the board. The position works closely with the archabbot/Chancellor, President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Vice President Academic Affairs, Vice President for Strategic Engagement and Mission, Vice President for Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, Dean of Admissions, Chief Information Officer, Office of Legal Counsel and Vice President for Marketing.

Specific Requirements and Responsibilities: The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer is responsible planning, directing, and controlling the accounting activities and reporting practices of Saint Vincent College Corporation (including the Seminary) with annual budget of $53 million including $32 million of financial aid, long-term investments of $150 million, short-term investments of $20 million, property of $120 million, long-term debt of $12 million plus demand notes with a maximum of $15.5 borrowing capacity ($6 million borrowed). In addition, The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer is responsible for the financial transactions and audit reports of The Archabbey (Includes the Wimmer Corporation and Saint Vincent Cemetery Corporation) and Benedictine Society Charitable Trust. These entities are related but separate not-for-profit organizations and are not consolidated in the financial statements of Saint Vincent College Corporation.

The Vice President for Finance and Treasurer is responsible for the following functions: cash management including cashier duties, endowment management, financial reporting, financial controls general accounting, payroll, taxation, financial planning, operating and capital budgeting and forecasting, student financial aid processing, student billing and collection, accounts payable, purchasing card, conference services, insurance services. The Vice President and Treasurer is responsible for all banking relationships, credit agency relationships and is the key liaison with our external auditors.

Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and have at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience within finance administration, preferably in higher education or a similar complex organizational setting. The ideal candidate will hold a CPA and or an MBA or relevant advanced degree is highly desirable.
