Vice President, Operations

About the role: The Vice President, Operations will be responsible for overseeing the operation of Eagle Creek’s facilities. In that capacity, this position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our facilities while also driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance, minimize downtime, and maximize output. This position requires a strategic leader with an understanding of operations, well rounded technical expertise, and strong leadership skills.

What You’ll Do:
  • Strategic Operations Leadership:
    • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company’s overall mission and goals.
    • Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety protocols, and environmental and other regulations.
    • Collaborate with company leadership to drive growth, profitability, and sustainability.
  • Asset Optimization:
    • Monitor performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the efficiency and reliability of generation.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Maintenance Planning:
    • Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive maintenance plans to safeguard the ongoing reliability and availability of assets.
    • Ensure optimal coordination of scheduled maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize operational uptime.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management:
    • Oversee development of annual operating budgets and capital expenditure plans for operations.
    • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures to achieve budgetary targets.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks associated with generation, including dam safety, equipment failure, and environmental impact.
    • Implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard assets and personnel.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to renewable energy operations.
    • Partners with Regulatory team to maintain compliance with permits, licenses, and reporting obligations.
    • Ensure team supports timely filing of all regulatory required federal, state and local reports, including but not limited to, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and other federal, state, regional and local agencies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, engineering, and support departments.
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, community groups, and industry associations.
  • Talent Development:
    • Lead and inspire a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the operations team.
    • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff capabilities.
What Skill and Experience You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of leadership in energy operations, with at least 10 years of experience in a senior management role.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of energy generation and renewable technologies, equipment, and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and environmental compliance standards applicable to hydropower and renewable energy facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • The ability to travel heavily in support of Eagle Creek's 85 facilities nationwide.
  • Professional certifications in engineering, project management, or related fields are a plus.
