Position Summary

The VP, Controller is responsible for all accounting activities including month, quarter and year end close, leading audit engagements, driving SOX and controls compliance and oversight of standard cost, AP, AR and GL management. Continuous improvement of performance over time on a consistent, global basis is also required. Specific job responsibilities can be categorized into four main areas: closing activities, accounting and financial procedures and controls, cost and transactional management and tax and treasury.

Position Responsibilities

Closing activities

• Direct and guide all entities within the Business through monthly, quarterly and yearly closing activities.
• Manage all month-end, quarter-end and year-end companywide Accounting deliverables in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and corporate accounting policy and seek guidance from Director of Finance or Technical accounting team in complex situations.
• Manage Monthly balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure accuracy of results
  
  

Accounting and finance procedures and controls

• Ensure integrity of accounting processes and controls at all times.
• Manage external audit on an annual basis with KPGM and ensure there are no material audit findings
  
  

Cost and transactional management

• Manage Accounts Receivable team and ensure timely collections of receivables within contractual terms.
• Manage Accounts Payable team and ensure timely payment of invoices within contractual terms.
• Manage Staff Accountants to ensure accurate and timely completion of transactions and journal entries in support of monthly closing and reporting processes
  
  

Tax and treasury

• Responsible for Cash management including banking relationships
• Responsible for all Tax issues including Payroll, Sales and Use, and Income tax
• Develop and maintain relationships with external firms to assist in tax preparation and provision work
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• 10+ years experience in public and privately held companies
• Experience with Netsuite and other relevant programs
• Experience in education industry preferred
• Knowledge of supply chain operations
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills with experience leading a team
• Ability to travel as required

• Masters degree
• CPA or CMA
