Long & Associates, LLC, (L&A), a financial management, business consulting, and administrative support services firm, is seeking a Scientific Writer and Editor to join our team. The position will provide Programmatic Support Services within the Global Immunization Division (GID) through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Global Health Center.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide management and oversight, including meeting preparation, accurate and timely reports, comprehensive work plans, timelines coordination and communications, and accurate cost estimates for various tasks and activities
Write and edit scientific manuscripts from first draft to post-submission revisions, including:
organizing manuscript content
developing and finalizing figures, tables, and graphs with the manuscripts
providing final review of manuscript for logic, clarity, style, consistency
managing manuscript references and citation
working with lead author to respond to queries from the journal and peer reviewers
Write and edit other scientific documents, including assisting GID staff to tailor documents for specific audiences
Provide mentoring and training in Scientific Writing using self-developed or previously prepared materials
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in writer/editor services
Special Areas Of Expertise
Knowledge of CDC and GID mission and policies and procedures especially as related to scientific documents;
Ability to learn and work effectively in GID and CDC culture;
Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work with people who have different personalities, opinions, position levels and who speak English as a second language;
Ability to work independently;
Strong skills in planning, organizing, and managing multiple activities;
Ability to juggle and respond to multiple simultaneous requests and priorities in a timely manner.
