Writer/Producer

Overview and Responsibilities:

CBS New York, the #1 station in the Paramount portfolio of local stations, is looking for a diligent, team-oriented producer and news writer! We are seeking someone with a proven track record in crafting high-quality news content across all platforms.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Competing in the end to end creation of news stories for all platforms, including video editing.
• Writing conversational, factual, and ethical copy that provides the appropriate depth and context.
• Reacting quickly to breaking news and weather events.
• Actively participating in editorial meetings and regularly pitching stories.
• Demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
• Cultivating collaboration through effective communication.
• Excelling in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Exhibiting confidence and adaptability in the control room.
  
  

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience producing in a medium to large market.
• Critical understanding of journalistic principals and ethics.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
• Willingness to work hours that include overnights and weekends with flexibility.
  
  

Additional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred.
• Prior experience working with desktop editing is preferred.

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $48,152.00 - 102,284.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
