- [Instructor] Perhaps it's time to take a short break for a horror story here in this course, except instead of being about monsters and serial killers, this one's about paperwork and administrative burden, which is kind of the same thing. The idea here is administrative burden is really anything that adds non-care-related costs to healthcare. And it can include things like scheduling or obtaining and sharing medical records, or getting prior authorizations or resolving billing issues, or resolving premium problems. There's a lot of things that go into this. And in the United States at least, they add anywhere between 15 and 30% to the total cost of healthcare in the country, so this is a very significant part of the entire healthcare equation.
