- [Instructor] RETcon or Retroactive continuity is an approach sometimes used in stories to change things that happened in the stories past to suit the current narrative's purpose often is to bring a character back from the dead. And I can even think of at least one prominent example in recent science fiction where the two lead characters were absolutely, definitely dead 20 years ago, but as the news story would have us believe, they were in fact saved or at least reconstructed by intelligent machines. But regardless of how you feel about science fiction resurrections, that kind of robotic surgery with the nanobots crawling over you, and rebuilding you from scratch is definitely not what I'm talking about today.
