American farmers are achieving greatness, producing 550 million tons of crops, feeding millions worldwide, despite increasing challenges. Innovation is the driver of today's success and future progress. Companies like Corteva Agriscience invest heavily in R&D, but it takes years and millions to bring innovations to market. I felt it was time to spotlight that intellectual property theft is a real threat to the future of ag. The bottom line: to protect American competitiveness – and the future of the American farm – the government needs to significantly strengthen enforcement of its intellectual property protection. Please join me in advocating to protect American agriculture for future generations. #innovation

You may not realize the vital role farmers play in the healthy trade relationship between the U.S. and China. Much like the ballast on a ship, agriculture serves as a stabilizing force between the two trading partners. Our Open Mic podcast guest is Chandler Goule, CEO of the National Association of Wheat Growers. He has served in the halls of Congress and for the nation’s crop farmers over his extensive career in Washington. Goule says failure to enact a new farm bill will only heap greater challenges on policy writers in 2025 and leave farmers with a policy that does not accurately reflect the financial risks producers face. Goule says the nation is losing wheat acres and growers to other crops that benefit from both advanced genetics and demand from new uses. NAWG supports crops for renewable fuels, but says unintended consequences from trade, farm policy and research could lead to dire and unintended consequences for the nation’s number one food grain and its growers.https://https://lnkd.in/gJdJPuid Chandler Goule National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gJdJPuid

What is the #truecost behind the breakfast you have eaten today? Did the price you paid truly account for #food production, processing, transportation, and distribution while also considering social and ecosystem services? If not, who bears these hidden costs - from capital and labour rights to environmental risks? Do these consequences impact specific groups or all of us collectively? Food systems need to rebalance, and, according to FAOs report on "The State of Food and Agriculture", the solution includes policy coherence, systemic thinking, fair value distribution, and the rebalancing of market power. Take a closer look at the full report to delve deeper into the details! In this context, I also invite you to explore The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) Initiative: https://teebweb.org/. Don't underestimate the impact of sharing and raising awareness. In our globalised and interconnected world, we can only progress by addressing these issues together. #truecostaccounting #sustainablefoodsystems #businessandhumanrights #humanrights https://lnkd.in/dTXSvNQu
