Undoubtedly, NiFi stands out as a remarkable discovery in the realm of data integration tools. Yet, I find myself pondering why it remains underrated while other costly tools hog the spotlight. Let's shine a light on NiFi's exceptional capabilities and potential to revolutionize data integration strategies. #DataIntegration #NiFi #Innovation
I don't typically hype technology.. but I am a fan of nifi. The concept is simple.. take data from point A and send it to point B using a cool interactive web interface. Point A/B/C can be anything from a database dealing with records to file sources and destinations like SFTP or S3 buckets. I've used it as a managed file tool to move files around between SFTP servers and Windows shares. I also created a system to take records from a DB, send to an API endpoint.. while listening for incoming connections back from the remote endpoint and updating a database. Besides an extremely straight forward interface, I've also submitted bugs that have been fixed within 24 hours, spoken to developers about configurations and had some great conversations about use case scenarios.

Part of the power of Apache NiFi is that it is infinitely extensible. However, extensibility comes with its own challenges and risks -- particularly around maintainability and troubleshooting. Fortunately Datavolo provides full provenance and traceability out of the box which enables you to quickly and easily troubleshoot any custom processors you've written. Read more about a real world example of troubleshooting some of our own custom written processors! https://lnkd.in/gGDXy7Zn

Apache Flink CDC 3.1.0 is now available for download. - Transformation Support in Pipeline: Flink CDC 3.1.0 allows users to perform data transformations directly within the CDC pipeline through a "transform" section in the YAML definitions. This includes projections, simple calculations, and adding constant columns with SQL-like syntax. - Table Merging Support: The new version supports merging events from multiple tables into a single destination table by using "route" configurations in the YAML pipeline definition. - Connectors: - Distributions: Flink CDC 3.1.0 distributes connectors for MySQL, Oracle, and OceanBase. - SinkFunction Support: Even though SinkFunction is deprecated in Flink, the Flink CDC 3.1.0 still supports it to ensure compatibility with some existing connectors. -New Pipeline Connectors: Version 3.1.0 introduces new pipeline connectors for Apache Kafka (based on Kafka 3.2.3) and Apache Paimon (based on Paimon 0.7.0). - MySQL Enhancements: A new option `tables.exclude` is added for MySQL pipeline sources to exclude specific tables easily, and a custom converter `MysqlDebeziumTimeConverter` for better human readability and serialization of temporal columns. - OceanBase Enhancements: OceanBase CDC source now supports the general `DebeziumDeserializationSchema` to reuse existing Debezium deserializers. - Db2 Enhancements: Db2 CDC source has been updated to a unified incremental snapshot framework. - CLI Improvements: The Flink CDC pipeline submission CLI now supports pipeline recovery from specific savepoints using the `--from-savepoint` command line argument. Medium CVE-2023-34212: Apache NiFi - Deserialization of Untrusted Data from a Remote location JNDI Components The JndiJmsConnectionFactoryProvider Controller Service, along with the ConsumeJMS and PublishJMS Processors, in Apache NiFi 1.8.0 through 1.21.0 allow an authenticated and authorized user to configure URL and library properties that enable deserialization of untrusted data from a remote location. The resolution validates the JNDI URL and restricts locations to a set of allowed schemes. You are recommended to upgrade to version 1.22.0 or later which fixes this issue. CVSSv3.1 Base Score: 6.5 PoC: https://lnkd.in/dreApF-T
