#Delivery #is #key Good communication has many aspects, and the most important to me is a clear message. However, just as important is making sure your audience receives the message. Some ads have great messages, but people scroll away or change the channel. Keeping an audience's attention has become increasingly difficult in the age of 60-second social media clips and ever-shrinking attention spans. Many organizations waste tons of money on ads nobody watches because they can't keep their audience's attention. But not CORENDON. Their new inflight safety video for the Curaçao market is a definite attention grabber. I'm guilty myself of scrolling through my phone or sending last-minute text messages while the flight attendant gives important safety information, but I couldn't look away from CORENDON's video. It's fun and engaging, and it conveys the safety message effectively. CORENDON joins the likes of Qantas and British Airways in creating alternative, fun inflight safety videos. This is the way to do it if you want people to actually pay attention. This approach can be adopted by all industries, including governments and NGOs. So don't just think about the message; also think about your delivery. That's if you don't want to throw money down the drain, of course. 😀

Currently sat on a delayed plane waiting to take off from Belfast. I fly so regularly that I could probably recite a few airlines’ pre-flight safety speeches off by heart. And yet I still pause whatever I’m listening to, take off my headphones and listen to/watch the air crew as they run through their safety briefing every time. Most people just ignore them and carry on with their music, books or conversations. Why do I listen? Apart from the fact I’m scared of flying and am in the process of mentally running through the various ways my plane will crash shortly after we start moving, it’s also a matter of respect. If someone is here for my safety and comfort, it’s not much to ask that I pay attention for a few minutes. More importantly for me, if they’re doing their job diligently, the least I can do is show their work respect. I imagine it must be demotivating to come to work every day, perform your duties well and realise the people you’re working for are such a disengaged, uninterested audience. It’s takes very little effort to engage with people in a positive way, no matter how little you inwardly value their work (though I maintain everybody’s work holds value, even if you can’t always see that immediately). #respect
