I can predict the entire 2023 NFL season with just one stat. 🔮 The Hypothesis: Good teams never seem to spend a lot of money in free agency, so is there a correlation between free agent spending and wins? On The Surface: A report out of Cal Berkley seems to indicate ‘yes.’ Since 2012, there has been a strong, negative correlation between the amount of money spent on free agency and wins (see below). It is estimated that roughly 68 million Americans will wager over $23 billion on the Super Bowl this weekend. That means roughly 20% of the US will be placing a bet on the Super Bowl. While many will place bets on the who will win, many will be placing prop bets. Prop bets are bets that are not directly related to the outcome of the game. Some traditional examples include: - Patrick Mahomes will throw for more or less than 261.5 passing yards - Christian McCaffrey to score the first touchdown However, the Super Bowl has some very fun prop bets that are not offered for typical games: - What color will the Gatorade bath be? - Will the coin toss be heads or tails? - What song will Usher perform first during halftime?
