Perhaps a bit like your business, this Chiefs team has had numerous highs and lows this season. In many different ways. In the end it was their resilience, strategy, and willingness to rely on each other, that created the winning teamwork. Ask yourself - when the going gets tough... does your team step up or step back? Do they work MORE together or do they separate? At one point during this Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs defense was huddled together. At one point during this Super Bowl the Kansas City Chiefs offense was huddled together. A clear sign that they were working WITH each other to navigate the current conditions of the game. Observe what happens with your team. When the unexpected happens - good or bad - do people lean toward the team or away from it? The answer is one indication of the degree of trust that exists in the team. So we aired a commercial during the Super Bowl! 🏈 Taking a moment to express my deepest gratitude to our exceptional team and partners who made this milestone possible. Back in 2020, Kevin Bache and I embarked on the journey of creating Phoenix (YC W21) with a simple mission: to provide accessible and convenient health care solutions for men in Canada. Quietly, steadily, we’ve been growing, and today, we stand proudly behind what we’ve achieved. Every email from a customer simply saying “thank you” or declaring us “man’s best friend” resonates deeply with the purpose driving us forward. I have personally struggled to find reliable healthcare for decades. Over the past two decades, I’ve lost count of the family physicians I’ve lost – well four, to be exact! One left the country, and another closed his practice because they found the ER less stressful than the clinic. The quest for care, especially in major Canadian cities, is an uphill battle. Alternative options often also lack the personal touch. (Ask me about the time I gave a doc feedback on his stand-up set mid-examination!) Phoenix was born out of this need – to equip men with the tools to address health concerns conveniently and discreetly. We’ve always maintained a low profile, and we intentionally have stayed very lean. However, this year brought about significant milestones. We tripled our team size and decided to embrace larger marketing initiatives. When we met Arrivals + Departures we knew we had met a team who understood our brand, our story, and how to deliver a message that can resonate so well with guys in Canada. This marks a new chapter in our journey – and ironically, this is just the beginning for us. Leadership Inspiration 101: Appreciation As you head into 2024, brands and leaders will continue to face expected and unexpected headwinds. As a result, a committed team will lead the day. While King Henry isn't a coach, he is a leader by simply exercising one winning principle, sharing appreciation. A leader, you may be asking how does this apply to me? It applies to you if you lead people... 1. When was the last time your thanked your team for their efforts? (Annually during the holidays doesn't count 😀). 2. What is the frequency that you share thanks with your team, others throughout your organization, your external partners and most importantly your consumer? We live in a world of data, performance metrics, etc. and yet I wonder how many leaders reading this actually track their appreciation/thank yous? How many leaders is this "second nature" to and don't need to track? One of my favorite quotes is from Maya Angelo, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Imagine how the people that King Henry called out at the press conference that has since gone viral feel today? I am willing to bet, he didn't just say Thank You today, he shows his thanks everyday and as a result made them feel special and a part of the team. That is what great leaders do! With appreciation/thanks...I challenge you to do "More in '24", your team will appreciate you back! Thanks King Henry for giving us a model to follow!! Onward and Upward!

There are small things you can do organizationally that make ALL the difference at an event. Saturday I hosted and DJd for the 2023 Dreams Come True of Jacksonville 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run. At the start of the 5k we asked the runners / walkers / rollers to line up with the most competitive at the front and those who would take their time at the back (the party people I call them). It takes a few extra minutes but… This saves traffic jams and frustration. If the competitive runners were at the back they’d be weaving in and out of the walkers and rollers. The walkers and rollers would be mad bc people would be running close to them and their kids. At your event - these small things may take a few extra minutes but are worth it. #events #eventtips #eventplanning
