A member asked us: "I recently spoke with another member who informed me that their company was paying their field employees on a “commission” basis. The installers receive a flat percentage of every job, and the technicians receive a flat percentage of every ticket. The company does not keep track of employee hours, and they don’t pay them overtime. Both companies tell me they have had Department of Labor audits without issue. I understand there’s an opinion letter online from the Department of Labor that allowed a plumbing franchise to pay their field staff in this manner under an exemption for retail or service establishments. Our business is in a state without special rules. We follow only federal law. We are definitely in retail only as we do no wholesale work and do almost exclusively residential work. Do you have an opinion about this matter?" Find out in this installment of ACCA's member-only Legal Toolbox: https://bit.ly/3sJejfZ #ACCAMember #MemberOnly #LegalToolbox #ACCA

Our hard-working engineers worked overtime yesterday to install a #chiller for a #school’s low-#temperature and strong #magnetic field! Here is something worth recording: 🌩 There was a sudden change request coming from users before the last moment of the chiller picked up, power cables needed to be prolonged from 5 meters to 10 meters. The equipment was packed and ready for shipment. Since the customer was anxious to send it out on the same day of installation, users even considered reconnecting the 5-meter cable on-site; ⚡ 1. When they use new equipment, what is the feeling when they see a “bandage” on the cable? ⚡ 2. The cable is connected indoor and outdoor, there will be a risk of leakage and unsafe factors in the future. 🌞 The production immediately coordinated unpacking to reassemble and replace the 10-meter wire; all departments coordinated on the same day to finally send out the equipment. Wouldn’t you love a partner who values customer experience, product quality, and long-term product safety, and teams from all departments value cooperation? 😀

It’s the holiday season and scammers are working overtime to take advantage of weary customers. Recently, a customer reported that they were repeatedly contacted by a caller with an out-of-state area code who claimed to be contracted by Hawaiian Electric. The caller asked the customer for information related to their electricity use and inquired if they were in need of any assistance. The customer did the right thing by recognizing the situation, refusing to provide any personal information, hanging up on the caller and reporting it to our Customer Service Center. If you find yourself in a similar situation to this customer, do not provide any information about your account. Ask for the individual's name and phone number, and say you will call back. Call our Customer Service Center using one of the phone numbers listed below to report the call. “Can I be fired for not working overtime when asked?” More often than not, an employer isn’t going to fire a good worker when they need workers because they only work their allotted hours. However, it does happen.
