As we talk to people every single day (average of 6 - 7 hours a day ) we have seen a remarkable trend . I don't have hard data to support this finding ( just a gut feeling) But it seems that SOME ( certainly not ALL) people have an expectation to work LESS. Now, to be fair, they are willing to be compensated less ( in some cases) I consider the talks I have with a candidate to be proprietary . That aside, our customer is the CLIENT. So, if the candidate and I discuss " work /life balance" " weeks of PTO" , " remote work only " I do assess the work ethic of the candidate . Cream rises to the top and strong performers are recognized... always and without a doubt. The Pandemic made us "Reimagine Work & Life". The Great Resignation showed us that. Research published by Statista Research Department on Nov 30, 2023 showed in 2022 the number of independent workers in the United States increased significantly, regardless of the frequency of work. In 2022, there were about 31.9 million occasional independent workers in the United States, an increase from 15.8 million in 2020. What does this mean to companies who hire "employees"? If you're an employer, it means that you may have twice as many employees working a side-gig. What does it mean to "employees"? You have more options than just your day job! The sky's your limit!

An employee asked me if she can WORK FROM HOME for a week. I could see she was sick so I immediately approved it. Here's what I told her "As long as the work gets done I don't care whether you work from the home or office. I helped you get hired, trusting you are fit for the role and trust you get it done. " Life happens. Someone took a chance on me I am going to take a chance on you. I advised her to take a rest, have meds and don't stress about the work. BOOM! Next week she recovered and worked well on those projects and won BEST EMPLOYEE AWARD in the next month.
