If you’re waffling on our new redesigned Waffle Collection, ponder no further: Wirecutter just named our Waffle Robe their favorite waffle pick in their Best Robes guide 🛀 Over the last several months, Wirecutter’s testers “practically lived in'' our Waffle Robe. Designed with an exclusive weave to Brooklinen, the robe was called a “sumptuous yet almost weightless” option by testers. Between our new Waffle Towels, Robe, and even Slippers, we might be on our way to Waffle World 🧇 You can read the Wirecutter’s in-depth review of our new Waffle Robe here: https://lnkd.in/eiKppkf

New product: 1998 ASPC by Mark Tinsky, Sandblasted Bent Apple Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates - $180 The American Smoking Pipe Company was founded in 1978 by artisans Mark Tinsky and Curt Rollar. Tinsky and Rollar’s venture was part of a new wave of North American hand made pipe making that emerged in the 1970s and ’80s, including artisan carvers such as Mike Butera, Tim West, Elliot Nachtwalter and Jorg Jemelka. Despite the name, American Smoking Pipe Co. was not a factory or large scale operation, but a simple pipe workshop and name shared between friends. Rollar departed the company in 1990, after which Tinsky remained at the reins into the 2000s, before selling his pipes under his own name. I find this pipe from Rollar and Tinsky’s American Smoking Pipe Company, made after Rollar’s departure, to be a fitting example of that transitional period in Tinsky’s career between the split with Rollar and the establishment of the contemporary Tinsky catalog. On the one hand, it shows a movement toward the more classical shapes that define the majority of Tinsky’s contemporary output; on the other hand, it has a rough-and-ready aesthetic more in line with the spirit of Tinsky’s – along with other carvers of his generation – rise in the 1980s. It is both elegant and eminently utilitarian – a smoking machine with more than a touch of class. The condition is excellent. There is perhaps a touch of rim darkening, though the pipe’s dark burgundy stain makes this difficult to judge, but nothing I would consider major. The pipe also comes with its original leather sleeve. Details: Length: 5.5″ / 139.7mm Bowl Width: 0.86 / 21.84mm Bowl Depth: 1.42″ / 36.06mm Weight: 2.1oz / 60g 👉🏽👉🏽Pipe Link: https://nuel.ink/lHdk4c #pipesmoking #pipes #tobaccopipe #pipesmoker #pipetobacco #tobacco #smokingpipe #briarpipe #briar #smoking #pipemaker #pipecollector #artisanpipes #mbsd

Check out the latest news in the workshop from www.turningdreams.co.uk! https://lnkd.in/eDPnVX99 A week of bowls! I go through phases.... sometimes I start making one type of thing and I just keep going, each one being a different style and different wood. I often do not have a plan, or even an intention of what I'm going to make. With big blanks I'm thinking, hmm, fruit bowl or display bowl. Smaller stuff I'm thinking, well, honestly nothing on first cut. I shape the bottom edge and that's when the decision gets made. If its a shallow curve I'm heading towards a dish of some kind, if I have gone sharp curve I'm making some form of container. Either way, I'm simply looking for something pretty and pleasing to my eye. When I get to the inside, again, it's kind of dictated by the slope of the outer edge, with specials being multi level internals or jewellery dishes. What a lot of people may not know is the time spent cutting versus sanding and finishing. For me, an average bowl is 50% cutting and shaping and 50% finish. Every maker has different ways of producing a finish. Mine is perhaps overly labour intensive, but it's part of the pleasure for me. Here is my process: 1) cut to as smooth a surface as possible, 2) sand with my bowl sander at 80 grit, 150 grit, 240 grit and 400 grit. 3) sand with a piece of trizact cloth which takes it to circa 1000 grit. 4) go over it again with Yorkshire grit original, 5) sometimes go again with Yorkshire grit microfine, 6) finish either with Gilboys hard wax oil for a food safe finish, or Mylands high build friction polish for non food safe. Almost all of my bowl interiors regardless of their intended purpose get finished with food safe finish. Please see below for images of my finishing products and this week's selection of bowls!

🍷Some #TuesdayTips in honor of #NationalMerlotDay !🍷 Here are 4 tips to help you ship glass objects (including wine bottles) safely ✉️Choose the Right Bubble Mailer✉️ Picking the right size is incredibly important. If the mailer is too large, the item can shift around in transit and break; if it's too small, it may not offer enough protection. To stay safe, getting a slightly larger bubble mailer and filling in any extra space with void fill, like bubble roll, is better. 📦Don't Overstuff It📦 Is more padding really better? Not necessarily. The goal is to add enough padding to absorb shocks without putting too much pressure on the object. Rule of Thumb: If you're struggling to close the box or mailer, you put in too much void fill, and if the item is moving around freely, you need to add more. 🍾For Bottles🍾 Try out a bubble chamber pack! They protect the bottle from all sides, reduce damages and replacement costs, and are clear, so customers can easily identify the product. 📦Double Box It📦 While this may be overkill for every single glass item you send, it can be incredibly helpful for the most fragile and sentimental items. Pack your item in a smaller box with the necessary padding, then place that box in a slightly larger box and fill in the space on all sides, ensuring the box is snug and won't move around.

HAMMOCKS (Series Cushioning 2 of 9) https://lnkd.in/eMWYGaZY A variant of the hay-spreads or stuffed bags for sleeping were the hung hammocks. The Hammocks are simple long pieces of cloth or nets (like for fishing). A Hammock is a sling, made of fabric, entwined net of twines or woven mats. It is suspended between two or more points on tree trunk, column, wall or ceiling. Hung hammocks forms a very narrow sling, to widen it, both the ends have spacer-sticks. Hammocks do not need a mattress and one can even do away the pillow. Pillows or head supports are required for head related activities like reading or drinking.
