I talk about TTFB and LCP a lot with my customers. 🚀 Fastly's recent blog reveals a staggering 29% improvement in Time to First Byte (TTFB) compared to Edgio CDN. Using real-world data from Google's Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX), this performance boost was validated without compromising other crucial metrics like Largest Contentful Paint (LCP). Fastly's commitment to speed and efficiency shines through, positioning it as a top choice for superior website performance. 💡 #CDNPerformance #Fastly #WebsiteSpeed https://lnkd.in/dJRuQ7AH

A "beautiful" correlation between the two paint metrics and the time to first byte. In the image we can really see a perfect example of how a high TTFB spike affects #pagespeed metrics that the visitor does experience. First Contentful Paint: The moment a users sees the white screen disappear and first user engagement happens. Largest Contentful Paint: The time it takes until the largest element (usually the hero) is loaded. ⛳ These 2 metrics can be heaviliy impact by a high #TTFB! The time until the first server response is received plays a fundamental role in how the rest of the site is perceived by the visitor. So the key takeaway? Always get your TTFB right, then in many cases you can further optimize your FCP and LCP. → Choose the right hosting; → Make sure your caching rules (especially for paid traffic) are set up correctly; → A #CDN can be REALLY helpful; → Use caching were possible; → Be careful with redirecting (too much); → For developers: start reading into 103 early hints / preloading. Goodluck :)

On March 12, 2024, Google will replace the First Input Delay (FID) metric in its Core Web Vitals with Interaction to Next Paint (INP). The INP metric, based on data from the Event Timing API, evaluates the responsiveness of webpages by measuring the latency of user interactions and reporting a single value that reflects the speed of these interactions. This change means FID will no longer be a Core Web Vital and will be removed from the program. Google Search Console will include INP in its Core Web Vitals report later this year. This update emphasizes the importance of responsive and fast website experiences
