Yesterday we were able to handout welcome bags stocked with all of the household essentials you need after a PCS to over 30 personnel who recently arrived at MacDill Air Force Base. Each bag, valued at over $50, includes items like dish soap, laundry detergent, trash bags, paper towels, and batteries - all things you can’t pack with you, but absolutely need upon arriving at your duty station. Our “Welcome to Military Bay, USA” initiative was launched this year with support from Walmart as a way for us to help offset some of the financial impacts military families endure each time they move. Thank you to our awesome Tampa Bay Chamber member Adrienne Osterman with First Command Financial Services, Inc. for volunteering with us! #MilitaryBayUSA
This is such a great initiative!
Bags like these are SO AMAZING when arriving at a new duty station! Thank you so much to the Tampa Bay Chanber for tangibly supporting new folks to the area in this way!
What a great program Katie! Thank you for taking the initiative to develop this and sharing the post. If there is any way I can help the cause, please let me know. I'm a "very" small business owner and a retired, disabled veteran. I believe I have an obligation to contribute somehow.
How amazing is this!!! As someone who has PCS’d WAY TOO many times, this is so thoughtful and kind!
What an incredible initiative and gesture of support for our military personnel and their families arriving at MacDill Air Force Base! Your generosity and kindness undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of those serving our country, Katie Lopez, IOM. 🎁💙
What a nice way to be welcomed to the area!
Thank you for what you do 🙂
Such a great gesture and welcome to the community!
This is great!

3wWow, Katie, this is incredible 😍 ! As a fellow Mil spouse, your actions and words really resonate with me! It is so easy to overlook the practical challenges of a PCS when you can't bring liquids or cleaning supplies along. Then, after hours, days, or even weeks of travel, you arrive at your new home/apt/temp base hotel room only to realize you need something as basic as hand soap. It's the little things like a cold bottle of water, fun little snack, some laundry detergent, or even just a thoughtful note that truly make a difference in those moments. (Not to mention the costs associated with having to discard those items only to have to buy them again! 🙈 ) I can't express enough the gratitude for what you are doing for members who may not have someone to sponsor/guide, or the extra cash during their relocation to a new station. Your efforts are truly invaluable. Keep up the amazing work!
