Sometimes it's easier to know the "right" thing and give advice than to live and act on it. Recently, I was reminded of this with a health issue. 🩺 My doctor advised immediate surgery, but I looked at my calendar and thought I could wait a couple of weeks. When I told my mom, a pediatric hematologist oncologist, what the doctor had said and what the issue was, she was having none of it. "Any of that can get rescheduled. You need to take care of this right now." ⏳
24 hours later ⏰, I went in for surgery. Of course, she was right. Sometimes it isn't just about "knowing" the right thing; it's about having the right people around you to make sure you also DO the right thing. Thank you, Mom. 💖
Arthur Schopenhauer once said, "[N]ine-tenths of our happiness depends upon health alone. With health, everything is a source of pleasure; without it, nothing else, whatever it may be, is enjoyable...It follows from all this that the greatest of follies is to sacrifice health for any other kind of happiness, whatever it may be, for gain, advancement, learning or fame, let alone, then, for fleeting sensual pleasures. Everything else should rather be postponed to it." 🌿
This experience reinforced the importance of prioritizing health above all else. Everything else can wait. 🌟✨
