I'm not sure which hiring managers need to hear this, BUT a Social Media Manager is NOT a Social Media Content Creator. So, please stop posting about hiring a Social Media Manager to create content. It is like going to buy a road bicycle and telling the salesman you want to ride it on dirt roads. They are going to look at you very confused and ask if you are OK. That's two different bikes with different specialties. Maybe some can be hybrid. I can't help but feel like this causes so much confusion in the hiring process for companies or people looking to hire freelancers. A social media manager is supposed to handle your calendar, make posts, engage with the community and followers, engage with other people in the space, identify opportunities and partnerships with other pages, and be responsible for building exposure. They DO NOT create the content. That is a different job. If you post about hiring a Social Media Manager, do not expect them to be proficient in Premiere and Photoshop. Perhaps a social media manager can put together a flyer for you on Canva or something simple, but you are starting off on the wrong foot. If you are looking for a social media manager to create content, you are not looking for a social media manager, and you are probably just confusing yourself and people who are applying and are confused about who you need to add to your team. A content creator has a specialty in graphic design, such as the aforementioned Photoshop, knows how to use all of the editing apps, can cut down videos, and is probably an artist underneath that all. A social media manager is going to be wired differently. They aren't going to be filming dances and TikToks for you, either. Amongst other things, you are talking about hiring introverts VS extroverts as well.
