Innovation and Connectivity: Exploring the Future of the U.S. Connected Car Market 𝑻𝒐 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒍𝒐𝒂𝒅 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕@ https://lnkd.in/db35XBQT Few techniques are as prevalent as cellular connectivity. It has a significant effect on human life and this will only increase in the coming years. 5G subscriptions will have more than 50% of all mobile subscriptions globally by 2027. The arrival of the connected car is unlocking a wide spectrum of opportunities. The primary thing is the ability for collecting data from vehicles. This is utilized for predicting maintenance needs, identifying which services can be enhanced, and will ultimately permit the car to function autonomously. The automotive ecosystem has automakers, research bodies, and government, as well as the people and procedures driving collaboration and modernization. Automotive OEMs surely will develop new capabilities on their own, but by sharing the data of connected cars and resources with a better ecosystem, the speed of growth will advance significantly, helping all. Players create new business models while customers get improved, safer products. Shared data and acumens lay the basis for intelligent driving. • Automakers are quickly introducing a new cohort of connected vehicles. Electric car brands like Tesla and Polestar are available today for customers to relish the expediency of constantly updated digital services over-the-air while enjoying emission-free transportation. • Self-driving cars are still fairly early in their growth. Several entities are helping the maturing industry, with commencement levels of automation like ADAS, active cruise control, and lane assist systems. Highly and fully self-drive module of driving is still in primitive stages of maturity with progressive companies’ players like Einride stressing that the rapid progression of fully self-driving cars is only limited by regional exposure and the capability to share the data of connected cars. • Shared mobility fleets like Volvo M and Renault’s Mobilize, are presently fueling the automotive industry. The data which is collected from shared mobility providers will guarantee that their fleets are efficiently operational for a long time, delivering sustainability benefits. These also provide burghs with the information required to better address the issues like traffic mobbing and more effective infra planning. 🚗 ⚡ Debating the Road Ahead: Privacy Concerns in New Vehicle Data Collection As technology revolutionizes the automotive industry, we're entering an era where vehicles are more than just modes of transportation; they're becoming data hubs on wheels. But as we zoom into this brave new world, it's crucial to carefully consider the implications of data collection within our vehicles. Personally I don't have any issues with vehicles collecting data to improve the experience and safety of the vehicle and to further accelerate #AutonomousDriving. When is came to insurance companies collecting information, I had to think about that a little more. If I knew that I could be saving money and be safer by being a more conscientious driver since the vehicle would be watching my every move, would that be okay? If all drivers were being monitored, would driving become more safe overall? Less road rage incidents? Less rolling stop signs? Less speeding? Less being distracted? What would you do less of if you knew your vehicle insurance was monitoring and rating you during every drive? https://lnkd.in/dVFnxZCm

As a fleet manager, you've probably heard driver objections to in-cab tech: "It's an invasion of privacy." "It only captures negative events." But truly effective in-cab cameras do the opposite. They enable drivers to 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀. Ideally, you should accurately capture events, give drivers autonomy over self-improvement, and motivate them. Many drivers embrace our in-cab technology and thrive with it. FCC opens rulemaking to probe connected car stalking. Why it matters: 1. FCC's new focus on preventing car connectivity tools misuse could significantly ramp up its regulatory power over automakers and wireless service providers. By potentially classifying connected cars as Mobile Virtual Network Operators, the FCC may outlaw geolocation data sale and enforce stricter data transparency rules. 2. The announcement signals a heightened focus on enhancing communication service user safety, particularly for domestic abuse survivors. By pressing car manufacturers for insights on their connected technologies in relation to the SCA, the FCC aims to ensure survivors manage their connections free from potential exploitation. 3. This initiative aligns with the 2022 Safe Connections Act. Redefining line separation requirements to include connected car lines boosts survivors' safety and underlines the Commission's commitment to adapting existing laws to contain emerging risks. The possibilities with this technology are surely transformative. Think about a future with autonomous vehicles, both on the roads and in the air. It’s not that far off.

“Modern cars are surveillance-machines on wheels souped-up with sensors, radars, cameras, telematics, and apps that can detect everything we do inside -- even where and when we do it.” This pretty much sums up the excellent analysis by Mozilla researchers about a problem that has started to fester for the past year. In fact some comments made by Kia and Nissan about gender and “behavior“ are truly creepy. If we cannot even regulate data privacy and ownership of mobile phone data, how will we regulate a data set that constantly surveils the environment as well as the behavior of people inside? https://lnkd.in/eXuQF3UW
