This past Friday, May 31, was the 50th Anniversary Gala of the University of Hawai‘i Foundation’s William S. Richardson School of Law. Our platinum sponsorship of this event was given in the name of the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation (NHLC) to honor and recognize the NHLC's years of dedicated efforts to providing attorneys to address Native Hawaiian claims and issues and, more importantly, to provide a solid core of attorneys for Native Hawaiians. The William S. Richardson School of Law is a collaborative, multicultural community preparing students for excellence in the practice of law and related careers that advance justice and the rule of law. They develop highly qualified, ethical professionals through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and public service. They embrace Hawai‘i’s diversity and values and recognize a special responsibility to our state and the Pacific region. Among the distinguished law school alumni are HNC Board Chair Allen K. Hoe (class of 1976), and Beadie Kanahele Dawson (class of 1981). “I am grateful for C.J. Richardson’s vision and untiring efforts to fulfill a dream, which has provided generations of Hawaiʻi’s people with the opportunity to create a better future.” - Allen K. Every summer, LLM students from all over the world converge on the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School campus to learn about America’s legal system. Along the way, they burnish their credentials, make lifelong friends, and gain confidence in their ability to navigate daily life and manage a demanding course of study. “The LLM and SJD helped me be more creative and apply critical thinking in my research,” said Xiaochuan “Charlie” Weng LLM’09, SJD’12, a member of the Law and Justice faculty at the UNSW in Australia. “This is the best PhD program I know of.” Read more about our LLM and SJD programs: https://lnkd.in/ed7pNRHG

As more people reach out about Executive LL.M. programs, I am excited to share my own research into these programs for experienced lawyers deciding between a residential LL.M., an online LL.M., and an executive LL.M. program.
Associate Dean of International Programs and Lecturer of Law at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law
Working with Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law's longstanding Executive LL.M. programs (with our partners at IE Law School, Tel Aviv University - The Buchmann Faculty of Law, and KAIST) has been a wonderful experience in my first month as Associate Dean. Thanks to my all-star teammate Janet Garesche, and our colleagues Anya Grossmann (Berkeley Law) and Amanda Roden (Columbia Law) for welcoming me into this unique group and sharing insights about what makes these programs so special. Look out for a follow-up piece on Beyond Non-JD.

University of San Franscisco School of Law: LLM Orientation 2023! Value of LLM Students: LLM students bring a unique perspective to law schools in the US, enriching the academic environment with their diverse experiences and international outlook. Having pursued their legal studies in a different country, they offer a distinct cultural and legal background that enhances classroom discussions and debates. Their exposure to alternative legal systems and approaches broadens the horizons of their peers, fostering a deeper understanding of the global nature of law. By valuing LLM students for their diverse perspectives, US law schools can tap into a wealth of knowledge and insights that contribute to a more comprehensive and inclusive legal education. Their presence promotes cross-cultural learning, encourages critical thinking, and prepares future lawyers to navigate the complexities of an increasingly interconnected world. #usflaw #barbri #Barbriglobal #llm #alumni

Good afternoon LinkedIn family!! I am currently in the process of conducting my Senior Capstone Research Project, with the guidance of Dr. Marisela Martinez-Cola, about the sentiments of African-American legal students (current students and graduates) attending Ivy League schools. I decided to do this research primarily because I plan on attending law school. I want to apply to law school for the Fall 2025 cycle and have my eye on various Ivy League institutions. So, I want to learn firsthand African-American law students' attitudes towards their institutions and how they are socialized in that space. Secondly, I want to do this research because hardly any studies focus specifically on African-American law students. I would like to offer research that details African-American law students' experiences, trials, and successes to the academic community. To achieve this goal and write a robust study, I need your help. Please disseminate the attached survey link and flyer to current African-American law students or graduates and encourage them to complete it. I would greatly appreciate your help and hope you decide to oblige my request. Feel free to reach out with any questions. Thank you!
