I’d also like to to thank all of the brave people who gave their lives to obtain and keep our independence for the last 248 years. Original Declaration (link below to read all of it): WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation. We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—-That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. The History of the present King of Great-Britain is a History of repeated Injuries and Usurpations, all having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World. He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good. He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them. He has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyrants only. We have the power to rediscover our values, to uphold the principles that make us strong, and to strive towards a future that honors the sacrifices of the past. Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸 Before gathering to enjoy your lakeside BBQs and evening fireworks, it’s worth spending a few minutes remembering and considering the daring boldness with which British colonists risked their lives to become American revolutionaries, and what inspired them to create the world’s longest-lasting constitutional republic, a brilliant form of government conceived by her founders to ensure unalienable rights for her citizens. Since the 1620s, Americans expanded across the continent with a sense of rugged idealism and purpose, ensuring survival from colonial Europe; overcame the ugly sin of slavery by giving 600,000 American souls for freedom; led the modern Age of Enlightenment with a system to encourage risk taking and free enterprise, resulting in the building blocks of our modern society, from the telephone to the airplane; joined with Allied nations to rescue the world from fascism in World War II; and defeated Marxism-Leninism abroad in the 20th century. Now America leads the technological revolution fueling the future of business, travel, communications, healthcare — the full 360 of American life. We have much to be proud of and thankful for as our nation prepares to celebrate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

Happy 248th Independence Day to these United States of America! The Declaration of Independence was approved by twelve of the thirteen original American colonies (New York abstained) on July 2, 1776. It was written by 32-year-old Thomas Jefferson. On July 4, 1776, at end of the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, representatives from the 13 colonies adopted the Jeffersonian Declaration — making July 4 the official day of America's independence. It was later signed on different dates by 56 men (ranging in age from 26 to 70) from the thirteen original colonies. The Kingdom of Morocco became the first country to recognise America's independence in 1777, and France, arguably America’s oldest ally because of its role in the American Revolution, followed suit in 1778. The American Revolution had started just over a year (April 1775) when the Declaration of Independence was signed. With determination, patriotism, and help from a few European and other allies, the new nation was able to defeat King George III and the mighty British military. Like many former colonies, the U.S. has dealt with many internal and external affairs — with some of those wranglings even bringing the “city on a hill” in the dark valley of despair. Though absolutely imperfect like every nation on earth, it’s a wonderment to its mother across the pond, and an example to its siblings and peers. The U.S. is a federal secular constitutional republic—it’s neither a Christian nation nor a democracy.
