There are definitely very savy Loyaltynerds out there- I need to become one ! One Mile at a Time is ditching American AAdvantage for British Airways Executive Club. He took advantage of the current British Airways status match offer to get 6 months of Gold status and he plans to keep it. He didn’t have an eligible status – BA won’t match against American Airlines (or Alaska Airlines) Gold status So he did a match to Delta, and used that to match to BA He needs to take a roundtrip transatlantic business class trip to keep the status for a year, otherwise he loses it after October 14. Since American Airlines upgrades are really tough to come by for most customers, on most routes, most of the time, and their lifetime status is much weaker than competitors, he doesn’t see a reason to stick with American AAdvantage for elite status compared to keeping it with British Airways. He figures he can keep his status easily buying domestic first class tickets: BA Silver requires 600 tier points per year and four British Airways segments. That’s 15 short haul American Airlines premium cabin flights for the tier points. BA Gold requires 1,500 tier points per year and four British Airways segments. That’s 38 short haul American Airlines premium cabin flights for the tier points. https://lnkd.in/gKD_n_DA

"Don't Leave Home Without It": The Campaign That Boosted American Express. In 1975, American Express launched the "Don't Leave Home Without It" campaign, created by the advertising agency Ogilvy. The campaign aimed to position the American Express Card as an essential travel companion. The ads featured actor Karl Malden, who stressed the importance of having an American Express Card for travel emergencies and convenience. The campaign emphasized security, reliability, and peace of mind. The results were remarkable. The campaign increased card memberships and established American Express as a trusted and indispensable brand for travelers. Takeaways for Brands: Trust and Security: Emphasize the reliability and security of your product to build trust with your audience. Clear Benefits: Clearly communicate the practical benefits of using your product. #travel #americanexpress #amex #fintech

If you build a tower 🗼that is too top heavy, it will topple 🌠. The same goes for your loyalty program. Your sales patterns 📈 typically follow the Pareto principle or the 80/20 rule 🔺. 20% of your top customers 🧑🤝👩🏽will drive 80% of your sales 💵. Your loyalty program tiers 🪜should be structured in the same way. Your highest tier should have a small % of your customers. Otherwise things go downhill ⛷️quickly. When airlines, such as Air Canada allow too many people into their exclusive Maple Leaf lounges, Elite status Aeroplan members 💼complain of "riffraff" wearing jeans 👖(not kidding). To drive repeat business after the pandemic 😷, Royal Caribbean Group doubled the opportunity to qualify for the top tier of its Crown & Anchor Society program. Now that too many passengers hit the top tier, the company has cut down on its free unlimited drinks 🍸🍹🍺during happy hour, limiting them to vouchers 🎟️. This, of course disadvantages all top-tier members, not just the newly qualified, and devalues the benefits of the program. Future-proofing 🔮your program and tiers is not easy. If you would like advice on how to structure your tiers, please book a free consultation Lia Grimberg, MBA. #loyaltyprogram #tiers

Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card is an excellent choice for frequent business travelers who seek to attain status and elite benefits. With an introductory offer of 60,000 miles and a rewards rate of 3 Miles per $1 spent on eligible purchases made with the card and on direct hotel bookings, this card is a smart investment. The annual fee of $250 may seem high, but it comes with benefits such as priority boarding, access to Delta Sky Club lounges, and an annual companion certificate. It's our way or the highway with the latest push by American Airlines to "modernise" travel retailing. In the graphic below I'm quoting Vasu Raja, American's Chief Commercial Officer. He goes on to say “Not only does booking directly with American provide the best possible experience, it's also where we offer the best fares and it's most rewarding for our AAdvantage members.” So the offering of any other reseller (partner, to date) sucks. The best experience is on AA.com. And duh, yeah, if that's the only place AAdvantage will work, of course it's "the most rewarding". 🤣 For the record, I'm well up for things to be shaken up in the (especially corporate) travel channel. We need to move forward, for sure. But I believe AA is taking things way too far here and they are not walking their talk. It's simple: "More convenient" <> "only on AA.com". It's also interesting to note their "preferred TMC partner list" is only going to be unveiled in late April. Grab your popcorn, and let's see where this plan takes American. #disruption #ndc #madness
