Thank you for sharing Holly Paul. The start of a new year is the perfect time to re-evaluate your training program. Two additional points to consider beyond what is shared in the article. One, with the focus on targeted skills training, take it a step further and think about how to change behaviors to make the adoption of the skills stick long term. Two, making the training as interactive as possible definitely enhances the learning but leveraging #experientiallearning takes it to the next level. Design programs that push people outside their #comfortzone to accelerate learning and growth. Happy learning and see you on the trail! Working in #LearningandDevelopment - particularly in the #safetytraining and #skillsdevelopment spaces? Here's a key tip to help you craft a meaningful learner experience: Ensure _everyone_ along the course-creation process is aware of _what learners need to walk away with_ (these are your Key Takeaways). Then reinforce these all along the way. Your verbal, written, visual, and assessment content should all be focused around these. At project's end, use the Key Takeaways as a check: What did YOU and those in the pre-launch review group walk away with? Circle back post-launch and confirm your learners value and are learning from the training -- and gauge how effectively the Key Takeaways are being retained through assessment-grounded data analysis. #coursedesign #contentdevelopment Bonus Tip: I've been facilitating curriculum development and been elbows-deep in the instructional space for 20 years. I've learned this important phrasing that should be part of every formal learning experience: "If you don't walk away with ANYTHING ELSE today... REMEMBER THIS: ____" Fill in the blank with the MOST CRITICAL of your Key Takeaways. Want to ensure your employees walk away knowing what they need to stay in compliance, work safely, do their part in building a positive workplace culture, and develop themselves while supporting your company's mission? That's why we're here. Atlantic Training - Set Your Course! (atlantictraining.com)

Our HR Director recently got to see the inner workings of our training department during a back to the floor day. Natasha joined our Training Manager and his team of Training Business Partners when they met to discuss how best to deliver the new training material for 2024. Here are her takeaways from the day: "Within a few minutes of being in the room, it was clear how passionate our Training Business Partners are about supporting our employees. They were full of ideas that would enhance the learning experience - from ways to make remote learning more engaging, to how to put learners at ease, to how to maximise understanding of complex topics. "What made this enthusiasm particularly noteworthy was that each Training Business Partner (TBP) also brought with them knowledge of the local area they supported - they discussed specific customer requirements and operational quirks that meant the training they deliver will relate to the people they support. There's no better example of this than the DCPC (Driver Certificate for Professional Competence) training. All drivers are legally required to take part in DCPC training. Our training team could deliver a generic syllabus as prescribed by the DVSA, but instead, they personalise the training to our business. They take the time to hone the training so our drivers get the very most out of it. I think this desire to invest time in quality training comes from our trainers being on the ground; they see what our people need. Many of them have also worked the jobs they are now training people for which gives them an even greater understanding. "Overall, it was insightful to see the time our trainers invest behind the scenes. Their passion was infectious and I count our business very lucky to have them." #TrainingandDevelopment #OurPeople #DeliveringWinners
