In my first interview at Reward Gateway - our Sales Leader at the time, Shelley Lavery asked me which of RG's core values resonated most with me...and I absolutely floundered. 🐠 In hours of research on the business, it's products, and competitors - I'd neglected the framework that was central to EVERYTHING that RG does. Luckily, they didn't. Shelley slid me a copy of the RG culture book - a genius little booklet loaded with detailed descriptions of our core values and what they look like in action. As I frantically thumbed through the booklet to find my favorite value, it became crystal clear not only what RGers could expect of each other and the organization, and vice versa - but that they were truly COMMITTED to these guiding principles and living them every day. That's the moment I knew I'd be working at RG if they'd have me. Employers: If you're serious about your core values and are serious about employees, new and old, living them authentically every day... SHOUT ABOUT THEM from your first interaction with them to your last. https://lnkd.in/eyizVUpx #corevalues #culture #employeeengagement #employeecommunications #employeerecognition

☑ 𝑀𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑔𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐿𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑜𝑛: 𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐬 1️⃣ If you don't take care of your people, they won't take care of your customers. In Western Governors University (WGU)'s case, our customers are our students, and they are at the core of everything we do! 2️⃣ If you don't promote those who deserve it, you deserve to lose them. I am grateful to have directly promoted three team members who now report to me—in addition to having supported multiple promotions across my organization. 3️⃣ Working during vacations is not commitment; it's abuse. I am grateful that WGU just unveiled an amazing Flexible Time Off policy. The opening paragraph highlights how much WGU cares for its employees: "Time off is a crucial part of your holistic total rewards package at WGU. It is essential for employee wellbeing and engagement at work. We are pleased to announce an enhancement to our time-off offering that will provide more flexibility and equity in how you take intentional time off from work." 4️⃣ Paying people less doesn't make you efficient; it makes you risky. I am grateful that WGU has generous and competitive salaries across the nation. 5️⃣ When your best talent leaves, the problem isn't theirs... it's yours. Our employees are one of our most important assets, and we should treat them as such. 6️⃣ If you don't know how to measure results, you'll measure hours. If you only measure hours, you won't get results. I am grateful that we have a cadence of weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews focusing on measuring results and our impact! 👉🏼 Most of these problems can easily be solved without large budgets but by sound management and leadership principles. #management #leadership #culture #people Inspiration: Maria Begue

💭"Treat others the way you want to be treated." This notion applies everywhere: the grocery store, the movie theater, and yes, at the workplace. 🌻Some key takeaways from this post are: ➡️Respect impacts employee engagement, well-being, and productivity. ➡️According to a recent Pew Research survey, employees who quit their job in the past year reported feeling disrespected as a leading reason, after low pay and lack of advancement opportunities. ➡️When employees do not feel respected, they leave, and it’s up to managers to address this problem. ➡️Lack of appreciation and recognition can also be a sign of being disrespectful at the workplace. Not only does it rob people of credit but it’s a step on other people’s ideas and efforts. ➡️The basic need of a person to be heard whether it is a simple notion or a serious grievance is a sign of respect. ➡️Failure to do this can build up an employee’s. Insecurity and lack of confidence in the company.

Employee Appreciation Matters Every Day: Employers should know that consistent appreciation is the key to maintaining a happy and productive team. As a leader, you should know that a simple "thank you" or "well done" goes a long way. It boosts morale, motivation, and loyalty. This is the signature of my boss Eyitayo Iyortim. Remember, feedback is a two-way street; while addressing mistakes is important, don't forget to celebrate achievements too. I recall a moment when one of my line managers during a management meeting remarked, "Olu-Festus is not particularly intelligent; he is not that proficient." just because we argued. Upon hearing this, I laughed and responded, "I don't seek validation for my competence from others because I know I am highly skilled." Another colleague said, "Olu, we all recognize your value and contributions to the team, you do 80% of tasks for the team, and diligently." While the line manager's words could have negatively impacted me and affected my mental well-being, I remained positive. However, it's crucial to consider how another staff member might have felt in a similar circumstance. Regular appreciation breeds a positive work atmosphere and ensures everyone feels valued. Happy Employee Appreciation Day to all the outstanding individuals out there. You are doing exceptionally well and remember – you are important. Don't let anyone undermine your worth. I'm here cheering for each one of you. #employeeappreciation #workplaceculture #EmployeeAppreciationDay #employers #employeeretention
