🌲 Did you attend the Society of American Foresters’ Convention last week? 🌲 Check out an exclusive conversation on tribal forestry with SAF panelists Dawn Blake, Dr. Serra Hoagland, and Nisogaabokwe Montano. Repost Society of American Foresters “Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) has recently been gaining attention throughout the world. However, local Indigenous communities and the knowledges they hold have been in existence and evolving since time immemorial. Panelists Dawn Blake, Dr. Serra Hoagland, and Nisogaabokwe Montano will discuss cultural and ecological significance of fire on landscapes, indigenizing forest management, building inclusive collaborations with indigenous partners, and respecting and valuing indigenous knowledges.” 🔗 Read the full article with the link in our bio. 3 Questions for the Big Stage: A Conversation with Plenary 3 Panelists (eforester.org) #Indianforests #IndianCountry #Indigenous #NaturalResources #IndigenousKnowledge #SocietyofAmericanForesters #SAF #SAF2023

The theme of this year's International Day of Forests is 'Forests and Innovation: New solutions for a better world'. While the forestry sector is not widely seen as one of the world's most innovative, there are plenty of new and ongoing developments – within the sector and beyond – with clear potential for implementation and scaling to make transformative impact. In this vein, CIFOR-ICRAF is drawing on emerging innovations from a wide range of sectors to achieve more targeted, efficient, and effective forest conservation. Explore our innovations and learn how they are revolutionizing forest conservation and restoration.>>> #TreesPeoplePlanet #InternationalDayOfForests

We can’t tackle the nature and climate crisis without trees. 🌳 From individual trees in our towns to agroforestry schemes on farmland, we need a mix of trees and woodlands for nature and for people. Natural England and Forestry Commission are working together to ensure that we deliver tree and woodland cover for wildlife, carbon sequestration and timber resources. Our Chief Executive, Marian Spain, joined the Forestry Commission’s Chief Executive, Richard Stanford, on a visit to Cranborne Estate last Thursday. They reviewed best practice for woodland management and nature recovery and discussed the need for collaboration to address the challenges facing the woodland sector This partnership is one of the ways we are working together to meet the government’s nature recovery targets as set out in the Environmental Improvement Plan. Read more about this project in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/eg4Qi2UD 📷: Marian Spain and Richard Stanford joined by Natural England, Forestry Commission and Cranbourne Estate colleagues on the visit. #Trees #Woodland #NatureRecovery #EnvironmentalImprovementPlan
