Job Search Strategist * LinkedIn™ Introvert No More * Don't go through Job Search alone * Here to build a robust network * Let's chat sometime! * Named Top 10 LinkedIn™ Job Search Expert to Follow by Jobvite *
It's been about a week or so since Overstock and Bed Bath merged their online presence. It seems clean and easy to navigate. But.... execution and marketing will be key. No one does ECommerce better than Amazon. I'll leave it to others to go into greater detail from a business perspective. Some of my first insights as a former BBBYer. 💭 - In addition to coupons and offers, there's a yearly-subscription Welcome Rewards that'll offer discounts - that didn't work at BBB, so we'll see how this goes 💭 - Registry business is gone (hopefully it returns) - that was my 'baby' - building out a registry for college students 💭 - Not all branding is complete - that's to be expected. 💭 - Search returns seem to be working well - I tested about 10 or so 💭 - Time will tell how this all plays out - better than never for keeping the BBB brand. I enjoyed my time at BBB and hope this arrangement continues with our brand. Be curious to see what some of my former BBB coworkers think of all this - Michelle Daly Taldelore Prince Jhala Jing Peng Juan T. Ron Izzo Dmitry Gukhman 💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭💭 👋 I'm your man, Kenneth Lang! ➡️ As a LinkedIn Introvert, I tell my connections, 'Jump In, the LinkedIn water's fine! Merchandising | Sales Management | Interior Design Professional | Parlayed strong sense of fashion, color, style and trends and an enterprising spirit into diversified positions in retail and the home fashions industry.
https://lnkd.in/es8EnaNY Last week, Home News Now shared a recent interview I had with Editor-at-Large Ray Allegrezza, and we spoke about what small, independent furniture retailers can do to compete with larger retail chains and e-commerce. In our conversation, we talked about creating a niche and experience that sets one apart. I stumbled upon this morning’s article in my local newspaper. While this article talks about book stores, the theme is the same. How can we translate the advice given to book stores to furniture stores, you ask? Here are some takeaways: 1. Stock inventory that is different from what the larger stores are showing on their floors. Know what their best sellers are and stock something comparable in style, function, and price point. 2. Offer to reach out with a follow up call or note to your customers whenever new stock comes in that you think they may like. As the article states, “it’s not an algorithm telling them what to buy, it’s a human being..” 3. Partner with some local bloggers/influencers to come in for an informal meet and greet series offering cocktails/mocktails and small bites. 4. Host a book club. Offer your location for book clubs to meet, or create your own book club. Each month, select a design-themed book that customers can come in to learn more about. #homefurnishings #furniturestore #homenewsnow
Danbury-area independent bookstores thrive by offering niche experience you can't get from a chain

For some, the American Girl Doll catalog has the same nostalgia factor as the Sears Christmas catalog. And when it comes to marketing, nothing tugs at the heartstrings quite like nostalgia. When used correctly, it’s a powerful tool that invokes sentimental memories driving customers to capture those feelings and relieve past experiences. Visit our blog to read three things American Girl is doing well and three things they could improve on in our most recent catalog critique. https://lnkd.in/eNnHR_H9

Ever notice how the first info you get can heavily shape your choices? That's the Anchoring Effect! It means our decisions are often anchored to that initial piece of info, even if it's not super relevant. Understanding the Anchoring Effect is essential in fields like negotiation, marketing, and psychology, helping us make better-informed decisions and decode the choices of others. For example, the overly expensive Rs.8000 dress at the front of the store is an anchor to get you to buy the relatively inexpensive Rs.1000 dress at the back of the store. Let's try and see this effect in action: Do you think, on an average, the height of a redwood tree is above or below 1200 feet? Comment your answers down below!
