In my TEDx interview, I shared my journey in founding Multigen Home, stemming from personal experiences with multi-generational living after a challenging relocation to California and confronting my father's Alzheimer's. Inspired by multi-generational practices abroad and the lack of U.S. incentives for such living arrangements, I aimed to promote the concept to benefit families and reduce healthcare burdens. As Multigen Home's founder, I discussed our work in assisting families transition to living together through home modifications, financial advice, and fostering healthy family dynamics. Gadgets, equipment, and tricks for mobility, safety, mealtime, etc. Brain Support Network (BSN) and Stanford’s Parkinson’s Community Outreach co-hosted a virtual meeting in late August 2023. Attendees were invited to share “gadgets” (equipment, tools) or “tricks” (techniques with every-day items) they find useful in caregiving for family members with Lewy body dementia, progressive supranuclear palsy, multiple system atrophy, corticobasal degeneration, and Parkinson’s Disease. Did you know about the positive effects of TimeSlips? 🌞 Researchers have found that participating in TimeSlips sessions benefits both individuals with dementia and the wider community. Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, studies have shown increased engagement, improved mood, and enhanced social connections. Some studies even used random assignment to compare TimeSlips groups with control groups, or to compare residential care communities conducting storytelling sessions versus their usual activities.
