A week in AI is the equivalent of 49 dog years or so it seems at least. Today I shared my perspective on Text-to-Video AI models on our morning meeting at Peytz - part of iO in response to OpenAI crashing the internet once again this time thanks to the release of Sora. I get the hype, I get the amazing perspectives from a storytelling perspective, visually everything is now possible and so forth. However a week into the Sora "release" I am also a bit grumpy as Text-to-Video models are still useless in terms of actual filmmaking. Yes, it can free up lots of the process and enable creatives in new ways, but I for one is kind of feeling a bit disappointed (about a exponentially developing technology that didn't seem possible to most of us just a year ago). Will the models actually be able to solve the final hard bits taking it from exiting to useful? Let's check back in next week 😉 (BTW. I appreciated how OpenAI has managed the release being transparent and open around flaws and shortcomings).
