2024 looks set to be an exciting year! During the holidays, I have been working on my proposal for the project that will conclude my final year at University of the West of England. ‘Neoterra’ is a self sufficient dwelling designed to be situated on water and future proofed for the inevitable rising of sea levels. The idea is to explore a possible synergy between future living environments and personal aquatic transportation. Architecture and yacht design are particular interests of mine. ‘Neoterra’ creates an opportunity for me to investigate these disciplines and will challenge me to produce an outcome that bridges the gap between human habitats and transportation. #productdesign #industrialdesign #yachtdesign

Amit Gupta, a distinguished Architect, Urbanist, and Ecologist, is set to lead a transformative two-day workshop on Conceptualising BArch Thesis with a focus on generative tools and parametric methodology. Gupta's exploration into adaptive habitats is designed to address dynamic environments and respond to emergent urban complexities. The workshop will explore the potential of architectural typologies reshaping contemporary culture and urban experiences, covering critical aspects of design conceptualisation, architectural research, and domain-specific deliberations on habitats, work, wellbeing, gallery repositories, learning centres, heritage, cultural kaleidoscope, architourism, and urban tapestry. Participants will embark on a comprehensive journey through the creative and critical thinking processes. The workshop concludes with insightful reflections, providing participants with a holistic understanding of the evolving landscape of architectural design and its multifaceted impact on society. Give an hour for Earth Earth Hour has been known for the symbolic “lights off” in support of our planet and to explore all the ways you can Give an hour for Earth, while doing something you love! Our concept designs take into account solar mapping to make the most of natural life. Here are some images of a Sun-path Study that we have used on one of our previous projects. This study focuses on how shadows during the day and in different seasons, can inform the building’s orientation to maximise natural light. Let’s work together. #architects #Hull @Amelia Caruso @Alessandro Caruso @Sonia Kopacz @Kornel Witkowski @Andrea Finch

WHY LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE MATTERS NOW MORE THAN EVER "...a growing emphasis on landscape architecture as a pivotal practice around the globe in recent years – one that is closely connected to notions of public health, environmental design, biophilia, sustainability, and re-wilding. It also underlines the intimate relationship between technology and the discipline. Landscape proposals increasingly rely on advanced science and technology to predict how ecological interventions might alter an existing terrain and determine what measures will yield the highest benefit for both humans and nature. The contemporary ideal of wild meadows and biodiverse forests may exist free from external influence, but the path to get there requires assistance (Brodka, Claire. Why Landscape Architecture Matters Now More Than Ever, July 19, 2023)." Read more: https://lnkd.in/dwduQQYb... #landscapearchitecture #landscape #ecology #drystone #environment

"Integrating nature into our urban environments is key to building sustainable, livable cities". Camilla Richter-Friis van Deurs, our esteemed and highly recognized colleague and Partner at Nordic Office of Architecture Denmark talks to Arkitektur about "neighborhood as ecology" and the importance of sustainability in urban planning. 🌍 🌱 🏘 “We need to identify models that demonstrate how we can live sustainable and meaningful lives in cities with fewer resources than today, while simultaneously restoring and repairing our urban ecosystems and natural surroundings.” Read the full article on Arkitektur - https://lnkd.in/gvTWYP5V The article is taken from a series of texts on public governance and urban development in the Nordic region, from the book “Mission Neighbourhood – (Re)forming Communities” (2023), that will be published in collaboration with the Oslo Architecture Triennale. #nordicarchitecture #sustainability #urbanism #ecology
