SEPHORA Recently I hosted a virtual moment to pause with my colleagues and have some virtual fun together. Celebrating wins, big or small is so impactful. Each victory, no matter its size, is a testament to our hard work, resilience, and commitment. It's not just about reaching the finish line, but also appreciating the journey that got us there. 2023 was a year that shed light on new opportunities, changes and obstacles for our team. Celebrations foster a sense of accomplishment and boost morale, but they also play a crucial role in strengthening our collaborative relationships. They remind us that our successes are not achieved in isolation, but through the collective effort of a dedicated team. Having fun together isn't just an added bonus, it's a key driver in achieving our goals. Shared laughter and joy create a bond that fosters a sense of unity that is truly invaluable. Here you can see my teams findings after I told them to race and find something blue in our "Find Something" game. Don't mind my face, I was focused on capturing the moment haha. We spent time diving further into our Gallup strengths and how they show up in the way we work. We had some fun in sharing some favourite personal stories and ended with some friendly competition. So grateful to have been able to build the long-term relationship with multi-talented dancer, host, and AAPI advocate @sheelaawe X Bacardi over the past 9 months through the Carta Collective. Here's how this team is doing it differently: 1. It's a LONG-TERM partnership formed around aligned values. 2. They prioritize building a real relationship, not a transactional one by making the time to check in on video calls throughout the entire partnership. 3. They care about Sheela outside of the program - they reached out to be integrated into Sheela's Lunar New Year MIXer. Again it's the authentic relationship that made Sheela feel supported and seen. 4. They build a community of like-minded creators that are now friends, collaborators, and Bacardi stans through the Carta Collective long-term program. 5. They create COOL creator-centric IRL experiences. Sheela went to Gov Ball and the VMA's this past year and they are programming and elevating even more for 2024. "Take note of it and take care of it." This is what Pharrell Williams shared with Maurice Kamara (@thepeoplegallery_). He didn't say "ignore people's concerns." He basically said: address it and keep going. As a coach and consultant, I am on the listening end of a lot of people's concerns and fears. People share their overwhelm with when they aren't sure how to handle a situation. I totally understand why. Emotional regulation and centering yourself aren't skills most people were taught. You need to develop these skills. It's a privilege I don't take lightly to help people learn how to move into a state of what I refer to as "neutrality:" - You see the situation - You listen to the feedback - You take it seriously  - You address it to the best of your ability and resources   - And you keep going Or as Pharell says "take note and take care of it." If you don't, every challenge that comes your way will "eat up unnecessary bandwidth that could be contributing to your momentum" (also from Pharrell).
