Embracing Ubuntu on Juneteenth 🌟 Today, as we celebrate Juneteenth, we honor the spirit of freedom, resilience, and unity. This day commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in 1865, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing journey towards equality and justice for all Americans. To reflect on this national holiday, I wanted to share some thoughts on the African spirit of Ubuntu, that I learned about while in grad school for global leadership. Ubuntu—"I am because we are"— recognizes that our individual well-being is deeply connected to the well-being of our community. Ubuntu teaches us the importance of empathy, compassion, and mutual respect. It also reminds us that we rise together to overcome struggles, and that our collective strength is built on the foundation of our shared respect, empathy, and connectedness to humanity. On this Juneteenth, let us reflect on the lessons of Ubuntu: 1) Embrace empathy: by trying to understand the struggles and triumphs of others as our own. 2) Foster unity: by celebrating our diversity and work together to build a more inclusive society. 3) Cultivate resilience: by drawing strength from our shared history to overcome challenges and create a better future. As we commemorate this day, let's commit to individual actions that embody these principles and continue to educate, advocate, and support one another in the pursuit of true equality and justice for all. If we do so, we can indeed create a world where everyone's freedom and dignity are upheld. Let's live the spirit of Ubuntu every day. #Juneteenth #Ubuntu #Leadership #Community #Diversity #Inclusion #Equality #Justice

I am because we are - Ubuntu The spirit of Ubuntu - "I am because we are" - resonates deeply with our mission at Tikur Creatives. As a pan-African company working in the creative industry, we believe in the power of community and collaboration. When we lift each other up and recognize our shared humanity, we can accomplish great things. Ubuntu teaches us that we all have gifts to offer. Our individual talents shine brighter when woven together. This spirit allows us to build a workplace of psychological safety, where everyone feels valued for their authentic selves. We lean on each other. We grow together. With Ubuntu as our guide, we nurture creativity, not competition. We amplify each voice, not just the loudest. We make space for different perspectives to harmonize, not clash. The world needs more Ubuntu now than ever. It points the way to a future where our diversity makes us stronger, not divides us. Where the story of "us" is richer than the story of "me." When we create from a place of radical inclusion and human kinship, we move closer to the just, equitable and vibrant Africa we know is possible. The future we imagine starts with "I am because we are." #UbuntuInBusiness #CollaborativeCulture #CommunityOverCompetition #InclusiveWorkplace #HarmonyAtWork #TeamworkMatters #EmpoweredTogether #DiverseVoicesUnite #SharedSuccessJourney #UbuntuMindset

Today, our Executive Director attended a meeting organized by the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE). Representatives from other civil society organizations (CSOs) in our district (Rumphi) were also present. This provided a valuable forum for discussing governance issues and challenges faced in the district and collaboratively exploring potential solutions. Furthermore, the meeting offered an insightful glimpse into NICE's work, particularly its program empowering young women and girls with computer literacy skills. Notably, our Executive Director herself benefited from this program after completing her MSCE. We warmly encourage fellow females to participate in this valuable initiative, which equips participants with essential skills and a recognized certificate. We particularly commend NICE's commitment to promoting women's political participation, as demonstrated by their "Boma Lathu" project in Karonga district. This initiative empowers women to stand for various positions, aligning with Girls Evolve's mission of fostering equal political participation for women as future leaders. Viva NICE!

Special to see my colleague, @Pam Hoehler, our Director of Placement Services for Adoptions Together, a program of Paths for Families, get the opportunity to speak to the @Washington Post about our guidance for LGBTQ+ families considering adoption. Choosing who will guide you throughout your adoption journey is an important, yet challenging decision. For every family, we recommend building a support system of partners that align with your values and understand your needs. This is exactly why Pam recommended the @Human Right Campaign’s All Children-All Families program, which features an inclusive approach for LGBTQ+ families. For more insights for LGTBQ+ families, read the helpful article here: https://lnkd.in/gxpEK7AD #AdoptionAdvice #LGTBQ #NationalAdoptionMonth #Adoption
