The intimation here is that if an individual has a "privileged background" he/she is not agreeable to others. FLAWED argument. What is the presumed meaning of "privileged" ?

Sure, it might make you more "agreeable" to others, but at what cost? By hiding your advantages, you're not only being dishonest, but you're also denying others the chance to understand the true context of your success. And let's not forget, if you're downplaying your privilege, you're also downplaying your own accomplishments. Own your success, and be proud of the hard work you've put in to get where you are. So, instead of trying to play the "I'm just like you" card, be honest about your background and use it to make a positive impact. Trust me, your career will thank you for it.

This isn't a Scorcese film, the greater majority of people have no idea how to hide their true origin (and that's a good thing). Downplaying growing up in a certain neighbourhood where people can see right through you is something most people can't do. Nobody would believe a refined aristocrat is some Dickensian street urchin; it's not about adopting a certain lifestyle or accent, but certain mannerisms which make certain people into those same *certain* people.

There is a bigger point being missed here, dare I say. Why have Tories all over the English speaking world defunded public schools to such a catastrophic point, yet continue to fund (with money from taxpayers who will never be able to afford these schools), or provide some kind of subsidy/tax break/exemption for, 'private' schools?

A privilege upbringing gives a person clear advantage in society, and more so if he is humble about it, will then be expected to take the leadership role.

Snobbery goes both ways. A person born into poverty cannot help it just as the child of a billionaire cannot help it. Hopefully work ethic and character is more important but I suspect biases may come into play.

I think that going into a work environment that would force people to disregard the blessings they have, be that any type of privilege would hold them back from giving their perspective and expertise which is counter productive
