📣THIS!! Take 2 minutes to watch what is a very real reality for women, including myself. As I continue my journey to allow myself to EXPRESS all different parts of me, what I’ve come to learn is that although the opinions from others comes along with it, I don’t need to carry it. I have learned to TRUST myself - peeling back my own layers allows me to deepen that BOND with myself. When I do that, the opinions of others don’t really hold weight. This is a powerful skill I’ve learned for myself and I see how differently I feel/move/act as a result. #consciousness #consciousleadership #mindsetmatters #transformation #empowerment #livinginauthenticity
Just watched the Barbie movie and I think America Ferreras speech on the complexity of being a woman today was the best articulation of the real life challenges I’ve heard. 👏 (bravo to the writers and to Americas delivery and additions). Link to her speech here: https://lnkd.in/gP-F_6jS

I cannot think of a better profession than “artist” to share with a spouse. Most of our conversations center around light, color, form, and the beauty that surrounds us. My husband’s expertise, instruction, and encouragement are why I am an artist today. Here is a recent piece from his easel: https://lnkd.in/guUFXeHu

There ought to be a law against that! We all experience or see things that are legal but shouldn’t be Yesterday, while driving to Louisville for Thanksgiving, we were listening to a SiriusXM station promoting Dolly Parton’s new album The album is all covers of non-country classics, like “Hey Jude” and “Every Breath You Take” Well, being a major Beach Boys fan, I got pretty excited when I saw “God Only Knows” on the screen After all, no less than Sir Paul McCartney has deemed it "the greatest song ever written" I figured a cover would not be as good as the original but I still wanted to hear the great Ms. Parton’s rendition Alas, while the Queen of Country’s song was good, it had nothing to do with the Beach Boys Talk about bait and switch! There should totally be a law against using the name of a great song for a totally different version While we’re at it, I would also like to see less copying of people’s names When an executor or trustee asks me to find a missing heir, I like unique names It makes it easier to zero in on the right person and not pursue the wrong one Don’t get me wrong, my team and I will not let a super common name stop us For example, we once successfully found a missing heir named William Smith But I would rather look for an Irving Schmidlap What about you? What’s a law you want? #inheritance #probate #missingheir #unclaimedproperty

As I watched this video from Tracee Ellis Ross, It reminded me that being a leader is more than just having a vision; it is about staying true to what you believe in, especially when faced with adversity. Everyone will not love you or your ideas, so stay the course, regardless of the opposition and challenges ahead. " I love these statements, "Change requires all of us to lace up our running shoes and knock down the hurdles." "The system is systeming y'all" #Storytelling #Itsallhard #diversitymatters #inclusionmatters #culture #staythecourse #leadershipbyexample

I believe in the power of narratives and how it helps us tell hard truths. I’ve been a fan of this woman for a long time, and now that I know she was a former track athlete like me, it helps me relate even more. Stories create connections and humanize who we are beyond what we see. I applaud the way Tracee held space and used her artistry to share the hurdles she has endured as an entrepreneur and multihyphenate. There are so many gems in here, but don’t miss this one: “Affirmative action has been shut down. DEI programs are being demolished. Hollywood is pulling back on its interest on diversity. Books are being banned. And we no longer are allowed to educate on the truth of our history. The system is “systeming” y’all. But you can’t system us away.” - Tracee Ellis Ross Happy Friday!
