I recently discovered this remarkable guide, Balancing the Narrative: Communications Guidelines for Indigenous-led Conservation, and can't express how beautiful and helpful these guidelines are which were created by the Conservation Through Reconciliation Partnership (CRP).) Illustrated by Métis artist Kisa MacIsaac, this guide is stunningly beautiful but also deeply educational and inspiring. Its purpose, as outlined by the authors: "There is no one-size-fits-all approach to ‘better’ communications with and about Indigenous conservation leadership. The required approach will depend on the goals, visions, and protocols of each Indigenous partner. However, these guidelines provide a starting point for communications professionals and departments, wherever they are in their learning journey." But perhaps the most compelling part (for me anyway) was the knowledge sharing how we can "reimagine communications in the environmental conservation sector" and look at how to take a "Two-Eyed Seeing" approach to "work beyond Western and written systems of communications (Two-Eyed Seeing is the practice of learning to see using two knowledge systems, drawing on both to guide discovery and problem-solving." Every section of this guide is helpful, from the communications process and planning to content development, crisis comms, and messaging/language. This should be in every communicator's toolkit. There are clear, actionable guidelines to help inform your work and incorporate into your existing strategy or communications practice, and, as the guide suggests, "Invite other ways of knowing into your organization". Have a read and enjoy the beauty of Kisa's artwork! https://lnkd.in/gEiaUBbp

Now – more than ever – is the time to for skilled environment and conservation communicators to inform, educate and engage our communities on how they can take or enable urgent action on climate change. The state of the UK’s environment has rocketed up the mainstream media agenda in the last few years. This – in part – is down to the sustained communications and campaigning efforts of organisations like the RSPB, the The Wildlife Trusts and a rapidly growing ecosystem of start-ups in the nature recovery movement. As the Government rows back on its environmental and conservation commitments, public outrage over the broken promises escalates. The key objective for a proactive communications strategy is to harness this energy and channel it into engagement, action and – ideally – increasing membership, subscriptions and donations. So what skills do you need to possess or be prepared to develop to become a confident environment and conservation communicator? Here are some pointers to the key skills and attributes needed to be an effective environmental communicator: https://lnkd.in/eKDCJ6uP

I help brands and businesses 3x their SALES and VISIBILITY by helping them connect to their Target Audience using the POWER of WORDS || DR Copywriter || Content Writer.
Let's begin with a story: --- In a bustling small town, there was a young woman named Sarah who was known for her passion for environmental conservation. She wanted to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the local ecosystem from pollution and urbanization. One day, Sarah was invited to speak at a community event about her conservation efforts. As she took the stage, she began to share her story and knowledge, capturing the audience's attention. Her words were not only informative but also inspiring, igniting a sense of responsibility among the attendees to take action for the environment. Sarah's ability to engage and persuade the audience through her spoken words demonstrated the essence of public speaking. It wasn't just about conveying information; it was about connecting with people on an emotional level, motivating them to support her cause. In essence, public speaking is the art of effectively communicating ideas, stories, or information to an audience, with the goal of informing, persuading, or inspiring. It involves not only what is said but also how it is said, including elements like tone, body language, and timing. Public speaking has the power to influence, educate, and mobilize individuals and communities, just as Sarah's speech moved her audience to take action for a cleaner, healthier environment. #PublicSpeaking #connectingwithaudience #challenge Day 10 of the Challenge a LinkedIn-a-day

Charlie Tarr, the founder of strategic communications firm Woodrow – named as one of PRovoke Media’s fastest-growing UK agencies last year – represents a new type of agency leader as the PR industry enters a more mature phase. His work is defined by comms challenges on issues at the forefront of international relations, global security and society. For Tarr, effective PR isn’t about fame, it’s about influencing the conversations that matter most. The agency – which prides itself on its people-first culture – recently crystallised its difference in a recent brand refresh as the ‘Future Positive’ consultancy, drawing a red thread through its clients and approach not by sector nor service, but by impact and influence, from the maritime sector anchoring a movement toward decarbonisation, to carbon-neutral concrete to help the construction industry reduce its environmental impact.
