What Makes a Product Designer? Being a product designer isn't just about making things pretty (though that's a plus!). It's about empathy, problem-solving, and building experiences that truly resonate with users. Sure, design classes and mastering the latest tools are important. But the real magic happens when you: Connect with other designers: Learn from their journeys and share your own. Embrace persistence: Rejection is a stepping stone, not a roadblock. Build your own projects: Passion projects showcase your creativity and problem-solving skills. Great product design is about the user. It's the bridge between a person's needs and a seamless, impactful experience. Are you ready to build that bridge? Illustration by Edwin Anthony

I help businesses & start-ups to achieve 7-figure monthly traffic with user-centered, accessible product. Problem-solving, growth-driving & prioritizing exceptional experience. Product Design, UI/UX Design | UX Research.
What name have you been called as a product designer As product designers, our role is often misunderstood as solely focused on creating user-friendly interfaces. While ease of use is crucial, our work goes beyond surface-level design. We are problem solvers, aiming to improve experiences and innovate solutions. With each problem solved, new challenges arise, fueling our creative thinking. Our process involves understanding user needs, technological constraints, and business goals for holistic solutions. We balance aesthetics and functionality, ensuring designs look good and perform well. Despite the hidden nature of our work, good design impacts every interaction, feature, and user experience. We balance empathy with innovation, practicality with creativity, and simplicity with depth. Ultimately, we aim to exceed expectations, pushing boundaries and shaping a brighter future through thoughtful design. P.S. Seeing my post for the first time? I am a creative product designer dedicated to creating pleasing solutions that address user pain points and passionate about solving user problems through innovative design. Feel welcome to connect with Olufemi, and let's create something amazing together #productdesign #uiuxdesign #problemsolvingskills

As someone in a leadership position, I’m constantly being asked about how to grow as a product designer. The answer might not be as straightforward as it should be, due to various factors. Subconsciously, we might be doing things that are preventing us from levelling up in our careers and impacting our growth as a product designer. I’ve written a quick piece to talk a bit about that. It’s a brand new year. Time for some reflections & adjustments. https://lnkd.in/gh-CAqas

Product Designer | Design thinking Practitioner @IBM | Mentor @ADP List | Building products that shape the future
As a product designer, it’s crucial to consistently showcase your work and take pride in your craft. This isn’t about arrogance or showing off at every opportunity. It’s about actively putting yourself out there and demonstrating your skills and creativity. By sharing your projects and the thought processes behind them, you allow potential clients and employers to see your capabilities and understand your approach to design. It also opens up opportunities for feedback, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Visibility is key in the design industry. The more you share, the more you establish yourself as a professional who is confident and committed to their work. However, it’s essential to balance visibility with humility. Be open to learning and growing from the feedback you receive. Engage with the design community, participate in discussions, and contribute your insights. In the end, the goal is not just to be seen but to build a reputation for quality and innovation. By consistently showcasing your work, you position yourself as a proactive, dedicated designer ready to take on new challenges and deliver exceptional results. Let’s embrace the power of visibility and continuously strive to refine our craft.

My brother is my product designer 😬 From day one, this man has been my design eyes. We argue like all siblings do, but when it’s time for product work, magic happens. Product designers have a “thing.” What’s the “thing”? Customer value + User experience + Design skills They communicate through prototyping, like an artist ideates with a sketch. It’s a marriage between interaction and visual design. Creating prototypes guided by user testing. At first, my brother was attached to his ideas. But he learned to be objective and assess customer value as the metric. I’ve learned that true design of a product goes beyond aesthetics. It’s finding compatibility with its user. With this insight, they guide functionality to reach its potential. Through him, I’ve understood the real partnership between a product manager and a product designer. We both bring important skills to the team, making us harbingers of product discovery and solutions for our customers. Product Managers NEED their Product Designers. Majd Almabruk thanks for being an amazing partner. We’re just getting started.
