Bring HIGH-INTENT prospects into your LinkedIn sales funnel everyday. Prospects that are actually looking to solve the problem you fix. Welcomed, warm pitch opportunities in your messenger - daily.
I've hired OVER 100 freelancers and outsourcers over the last 10 years. Here's what I found to be the best practice for hiring! I do like to use upwork.com for skilled people. But I've listed some others I've used how as well. Now I outsource soooooo much. I have a policy, FUN THINGS ONLY. But I recommend if you are looking for someone you can use repeatedly I follow a routine: ✅ I post a job with very clear instructions. Very clear! The more detail the better. I follow the old Army way of giving orders: Mission (task) Situation, Execution, Administration/tech and Command/Signals (reporting/deliver process.) I can't underestimate the need to be super detailed here. ✅ set my budget to whatever I'm comfortable with. I like to price either as a project cost or per hour. ✅ I then let the bids come in. ✅ depending on the work I'll select people from certain geographic markets. For creative I tend to stick with people from similar markets. If you get someone right out of your market, their creative mind is off to what your market is and I rarely get the result I expected. ✅ I award it to three people. I do this when I'm finding someone I want to do multiple projects with or maybe use them for months or years. I hire all three and let them go out at the project. ✅ I select the BEST of the three based on their communication skills, their speed, their ability to complete the task as instructed, the quality of the work delivered and their responsiveness to edits and price. I am looking at how they communicated with me and how much hold handing was needed. I do like to throw in a curve ball (like a change or extra task) to see how they respond to that. Once I found my person, I tend to stick with them for that type of work for months or years till the need ends. ✅ If it's a one off project, but still important, I recommend taking one part of the project or create a mini-project that you can hire 3 people for and then select the winner to complete the main project. Use the same criteria as above. Upwork has given freelancers hope, and it's important to protect that hope. One way to do that is to penalize clients who don't hire after posting jobs. Freelancers invest time and connects, which should not go to waste due to inactivity. Therefore, I suggest that if a client doesn't hire within 7 days, Upwork should close the job and refund all connects back to freelancers who applied. If the client doesn't close the job themselves before the 7-day deadline, they should be charged the cost of those connects. Another way to protect freelancers is to mandate clients to fund their escrow with an amount that matches the contract. This amount can be divided into milestones as agreed with the freelancer. This will protect freelancers from unscrupulous clients who use them, collect their work, and abscond without paying them fully because they either funded escrow with a small sum or nothing at all. Let's work together to protect freelancers and ensure that Upwork remains a platform that provides hope and opportunities for all.

Hey Upwork, the way you are treating with freelancers regarding your "Buy Connect" business model is super annoying and frustrating. You are increasing and adding the cost of connects since last 3/4 months is not tolerable for many freelancers. You are acting like government who always finds scope/opportunity to apply Tax in various ways. And you added to cost connect for job invitation as latest updates since last week. You are forcing freelancers to go outside your platform and your main business is now "Selling Connect" to freelancers. But you don't take any active steps for fake jobs where 50+ freelancers applied but the client didn't hire or even didn't view any proposal. You are the direct beneficial here. I have found many clients who have posted more than 100 jobs but no hire. Super duper disgusting.

Seriously, Upwork do you truly believe that continually increasing connects and causing numerous issues for freelancers is the right approach? It seems like you're solely focused on making money. In my opinion, Upwork should consider shutting down this platform. Charging 20 or 19 connects per job is unsustainable for freelancers. Even top-rated freelancers cannot afford this. Please reconsider your approach. If so many people are earning on your platform, shouldn't you provide them with more opportunities rather than increasing the pressure by demanding more money for each job application This is unacceptable. Despite earning nearly $10k on Upwork, I still cannot afford this kind of investment per job.

$200k+ Vs $600+ : Which client is best for the beginners? Well, if you are new to upwork, don't bother applying to jobs posted by clients who have already spent thousands of dollars. Such clients know how to find experts and have the budget. On the other hand, if clients have less spending, they are looking for cheap freelancers. Such clients should be your target. PS: The more you stay on upwork, the more you'll know about it. KNOW YOUR CUSTOMER! Understand their psychology. FOCUS! 🥸🌸 #upwork

Freelancers Should Avoid Upwork: Here’s Why Navigating Upwork as a freelancer can be costly and challenging. Here’s a breakdown of the issues: 1. Costly Connects: Purchasing 10 connects costs $1.50, and applying for a $5 job can require 9-12 connects. This means you’re spending up to $1.80 just to apply for a low-paying job. 2. High Fees: Upwork takes a 20% commission on earnings. For a $5 job, you’re left with only $4 after the fee. 3. Connects for Invites: Even if you receive an invite from a client, you must have connects to accept it, and an invite doesn’t guarantee a job. 4. Scams: The platform has numerous scams that can cause freelancers to lose their connects, and Upwork’s efforts to address these issues can be insufficient. Considering these factors, freelancers might find better opportunities and less frustration on other platforms.
