Here’s a challenge. Next time you attend an event, in person or online - take someone with you who has not attended before. Last night our panel session hosted by the brilliant Samantha Ockwell of BJSS as part of Leeds Digital festival was really well attended… …but so many of our professional colleagues are not engaging with the community, and they are seriously missing out! Adrian Reed and I call this “the missing middle”. People earlier in their career engage to learn more, those later in their career still want to learn, but also want to give back to the community. BUT those mid-career often have their heads-down with delivery, are “too busy” to engage, and ultimately don’t see the value. I was in that position for 10 years of my career, I wish someone had dragged me to something earlier, and encouraged me to look outside my organisation. Thanks to everyone who came along last night… here’s some of the things I heard: - “the panel shared inspiring and tangible insights” - “it’s so motivating, having the opportunity to talk to new people and see they have the same challenges” (And, my personal favourite) - “it was worth getting a babysitter for” Great job Jamie Toyne and Paul Haywood - loved being up there with you both. #businessanalysis #strongertogether

Best Icebreaker for Pavilion X dinner? Make it an unintended scavenger hunt by sending everyone to the wrong Del Frisco's. 🤣 Yep, I did. 🤦♀️ The good news-- I was early so updated communication channels and sent out text corrections immediately. Thank goodness the right location was only 3 minutes away. Apparently, it happens all the time. We had a great turnout with..... ✔ Great networking 🔥 Awesome conversation 🆕 Faces 🥂 Celebrated folks in new roles driving revenue growth Common themes: ➡ How Pavilion has helped them. Whether it's through courses offered, other members time and guidance, and events like this to have conversations and people understand and can support you. ➡ Planning for 2024 has it challenges either with budget and forecasting. Hot tip: Keep your renewals and new business separate! ➡ AI - from how you can use it to automate certain functions, to how generative is being used in software, and how many companies have AI budget but don't know how to spend it. We all agreed you have to embrace change and it's important to upskill in areas that aren't going to be automated because at the end of the day business is human to human. 🌟 And we lost track of how many times Leslie Greenwood was responsible for the introduction to this amazing community. ✈ 1/3 of us are headed to Nashville for GTM23 Huge thanks to Steve Smith & CIENCE and Elizabeth McCalley.eth 🦋& Market Edge Partners for sponsoring our Executive dinner last night. Picture of the DFW crew who attended: Jennifer Hoitsma, Leslie Greenwood, Stephanie Valenti, Walter Lewis, Waqas Hussain, Shane Jamison, Michael Garrison, MBA, Jennifer Garrison, Protik Mukhopadhyay, Glen Swindell, Elizabeth McCalley.eth 🦋, Jonathan Moss, Jon Rydberg, Sherif Hassan, Vanessa Cravens, and Chris Andres ….and Elizabeth Barr who will hopefully be joining our crew after experiencing her first event. #PavilionX #GTM2023 #networking #community

Last night’s Detroit event is a case study. Of How free fun events can result in real value. How to make something out of nothing. Here’s 3 interesting things that happened last night. — 1. I met a guy looking to invest in searchers who are acquiring manufacturing companies. Then, I introduced him to another searcher at that event who is looking to exclusively buy manufacturing companies. (Apparently this searcher did not know who Reg Zeller was, which blew my mind 🤯) — 2. Then, met a searcher who owned a strip mall. So I turned around and introduced them to a real estate guy who buys strip malls. Met both of them within 10 minutes of each other — 3. Met a guy who acquired a moving business. Offered to introduce them to a guy in my peer group who also owns a moving business. Turns out, they already talked to each other earlier this week… — All of these meaningful connections from an event with 13 people 😱 This is not coincidence This is not luck This is what happens when you put birds of a feather in a room together. — So if you want to meet other like minded people, you need to get out and make it happen. There are people just like you who think the same as you, they live down the street, and want to build real connections. all you have to do is set a date/time. — That said - thank you to Josh Tejkl who did like 80% of the work to make this event a success! Most of the people were there because HE GOT THEM THERE. So all of those meaningful connections resulted from you Josh, thank you!

As the summer months slowly close, the Mattapan community gears up for one of its most anticipated events of the year - the "Townhall Meeting". It's a gathering that comes once a year, but its impact can be felt for months, even years, to come. And this year's event, scheduled for August 14th from 6-8pm, promises to be the most thrilling yet. Picture it: a packed house, community members from all walks of life jostling for a seat, chattering away in excitement. The air pulsates with anticipation, with a sense that this meeting will be a turning point for Mttapan. As community leaders step up to the podium, the crowd falls silent, eager to hear what's in store. The roster of topics on the docket is long and diverse, ranging from education and job creation to healthcare and affordable housing. But what really sets this year's Townhall Meeting apart is the sense that something big is just on the horizon. The energy in the room is electric, with each speaker bringing fresh ideas and insights to the table. "The key is to listen, to truly listen," one speaker notes, her words resonating with the audience. "Only by coming together as a community can we effect real change." Other speakers nod in agreement, adding their own perspectives to the discussion. And as the night wears on, the conversation grows more heated, the urgency of the moment driving the attendees to speak out and make their voices heard. So mark your calendars and join us on August 14th for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of community, inspiration, and collaboration. It's a chance to make a real difference in our town, to help shape the future for generations to come. As one attendee puts it, "This is where the magic happens. This is where we can truly make Mattapan shine." Don't miss out. #MatatapanTownhall #CommunityMatters #BuildingOurFuture

5 BIG THINGS I learned this week: (1) Submitting an application to be a presenter at a conference is way more involved than I thought it would be. (2) But it would be a showcase of thought leadership for KS&R. My submission is a novel approach to retail channel decisions, where we innovatively adapted MAXDIFF to create a Share of Trust model for both brand and asset value. Jim Kraus has developed an interactive workshop about buyer personas and the Buyer Persona Institute. And Ben Cortese wants to capitalize on our recent work in micro-modeling and pricing. While I know all of these options won't be on the conference agenda, I am so proud of the great work our team is doing -- the kind of work that leads to better, more dynamic decision making. Keep your fingers-crossed 🤞 (3) A spring trip to Athens is always an awesome time ☀ The Last Resort is our first night first restaurant, every time we go. (4) There's no greater gift you have to give than your time. Twice this week I was approached by people I didn't know very well, requesting a few minutes to talk. I hope that our time together helped as they each process some big decisions. (5) And lastly, super excited about next week. The KS&R crew are all coming to Syracuse for our second: Week of working together. Lots of fun activities planned, including Family Feud (KS&R style 😉) and a scavenger hunt. Can't wait to see everyone! Onward to another great week! Better understanding. Better decisions. That's KS&R.

Consumer Insight: When you invite a consumer to your event, there’s much to consider beyond just how to get them there. May I recommend including an experienced consumer in your planning if you are truly keen on incorporating consumer opinions? The consumer-led events I have attended, run by Metro South Consumer Partnering, have been exemplary. In my opinion, when the Metro South Consumer Partnering team is involved, I can relax and don’t need to advocate for myself at the event, as my needs are considered for me.
