As I prepare to return to work, Im taking time to reflect on what really matters to me & how I can best align this through my day-to-day activities & the strategies I Iead at work. For me, this looks like: - Enabling respectful and inclusive workplaces. - Fostering opportunities that address the vast inequality in society. - Opening doors to “let women in” and provide them the means to self-direct their futures. - Surrounding myself with people who share my values and are driven by a bigger purpose. My role at Icon provides me a bit of a head-start on realising some of these things. But none of this happens without partnership, collaboration and shared value relationships. I look forward to exploring who will invite me in & who I will seek out during 2024 to support this agenda. Will it be you? I’d love to connect! Bring on 2024! ……. 2023 finished with some pretty spectacular acknowledgement, like the partnership with Assembled Threads (attached). It just goes to show that when your values align you can achieve great things, and a bigger purpose.

First, are those of us in social good “woke” by definition? Given that women and minorities are often underrepresented in data sets that drive nonprofit-supported research, we are often not “woke,” but one has to dig to find out. But, for those with a woke-induced rash, showing women and minorities in our collateral helps us pass the woke sniff test. https://lnkd.in/dkXbKim7

We're putting together a video reel for the @AmplifyHer Network website to introduce us, and we plan to end with the phrase "Together, we are Unstoppable.", We'd love to get YOU in this video so it represents our community. As such I'd like to capture many women saying this phrase. If you'd like to participate, please record a video of yourself saying Together, we are Unstoppable. Make sure you take a pause at the comma after "Together", and make sure it's in LANDSCAPE mode (aka your phone sideways, not vertical). Email the video to the founder, Connie.

How do you build community? SHOW UP A simple yet true comment by America Ferrera today at #MassWomen. It has been an amazing day of learning, connecting and getting re-energized at The MA Conference for Women. 🎆 There are so many excellent keynotes and breakout sessions. I have pages of notes and could probably do 20 posts on things I heard today. But I had an “aha momemt” when America said “show up” on the keynote stage. For the past several months I’ve been talking a lot with colleagues in my network about how to build and leverage community as a growth lever. They are my go to group for advice. When I break down all of the advice on how best to build a community, the idea of showing up is at the core. America summarized it succinctly…Show up. Be there to: ✅ Lend a hand ✅ Give advice ✅ Be a support system ✅ Share your experience ✅ Be reliable ✅ Be trustworthy “Show up” and the community will thrive. #communityled #communitybuilding #communityengagement

Did you know that according to 2022 data, Black women typically make only 67 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men? We’re ready to bridge the gap! We’re excited to share our partnership with Fem Equity™ for the BLK Women Equal Pay Day Conference! BLK Women Equal Pay Day Conference was designed to directly address this disparity and will offer women of color valuable information on a range of relevant topics, including how to advocate for equal pay for themselves; how to scale and advance their careers; and innovating their way through a power career. This one-day public event is a jam-packed affair for Black women and other women of color who are early in their career, ready to scale their career, and/or changing careers. Programming will include interactive workshops, expert panel discussions, and networking opportunities. “This experience is designed to support and expand your network, challenge your comfort zone on your possibilities, and make you aware of opportunities you didn’t know were in reach,” says Adeola Ajani, founder of Fem Equity. We’re so honored to be the main sponsor of this incredible event focused on empowering Black women in practical ways! If you’ll be in the Baltimore, MD area on September 22nd, we encourage you to attend the event! Even before the rollback, we had not achieved gender parity when it comes to health equity. This is one.of.the reasons why at WellQ AI we are starting with a focus on women's health.
The rollback of women’s rights in the U.S. and around the world has been swift and merciless. It’s been shocking to contemplate that my 1-year-old granddaughter could grow up with fewer rights than I had. But what gives me hope are all the people and organizations working tirelessly to protect the rights of women and girls everywhere. That’s why, in May, I announced a new $1 billion commitment designed specifically to support their work and advance women’s power and influence globally. Here’s where some of those resources will go, to start.

I translate complex ideas and research into actionable implementation plans. Talking about #marketing #socialchange #analysis #strategy #implementation
"In a wide variety of studies, covering cultures ranging from rural America to urban India, women are more likely to allocate financial resources in a way that directly affects the welfare of their immediate households and community. When given the opportunity, women are more likely to spend a family's money on food and clothing and health care and children's education. Men, meanwhile, are more likely to spend it on entertainment and on weapons - and if we're talking global trends - on gambling or the local equivalents. Worldwide, girls and women spend up to 90% of their earned income on their families. Men and boys spend only 30-40%". Quote from the book "Eve: How the female body drove 200 million years of human evolution" by Cat Bohannon Melinda French Gates and MacKenzie Scott are two excellent examples of what happens when women control how money is spent. Yes, the Gates Foundation has also done enormous good in global health, thanks in large part to the long-time influence of Melinda and Bill Gates Sr (father of Bill Gates). Meanwhile, MacKenzie Scott has donated more than $16.5 billion in first 3 years since her divorce (net worth $36.1billion), compared to $3 billion for Jeff Bezos (net worth $211 billion). When you give women control over money, good things happen, for everyone.

If the thought of 'but women's rights and lives are much better than before' has crossed your mind, then Melinda French Gates 's post is for you. There is so much recent evidence around the world such as the overturn of the abortion law in the US, and the education ban on girls in Afghanistan demonstrating how years of advocacy and hard work can be destroyed in the blink of an eye! We need collaborative work, regulatory and enforcement efforts and inclusive education to tackle these discriminative issues globally! In the cybersecurity and privacy space, many people are working on inclusive, diverse and equitable privacy enhancing technologies (PETs) for at-risk groups such as children, older adults, women, and people with disabilities. In AGENCY Research we work on issues such as misinformation and online hate and gender. Read about our work here: https://lnkd.in/enwxs3wW
