2022 NYS Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee | Baseball Historian | Bringing the love of baseball to the American youth | Environmentalist - NYBG | Fmr. Adjunct Professor - Fordham University
In the 1920s, new rules were passed that increased the action taking place in baseball games dramatically. In 1920, the baseball owners decided that the low-scoring games were very dull. Scores were low because only one ball was used for the entire game, rendering it dead by the late innings. Thus, these first two decades became known as the “dead-ball” era. Baseball’s hierarchy decided that the baseballs would be changed frequently during the game, and the balls would be more tightly wound by machines to enhance the baseball’s liveliness. #Baseball #History #AmericanHistory #NationalPastime #TheNewYorkGame #Education #NYSBaseballHOF #BaseballRules #1920s #RoaringTwenties
