In this episode of The Rural Voice, we interview Todd Cordrey, the Superintendent of Mancos School District, about project-based learning. In School Year 2020/21, the Mancos Board of Education worked to formalize its strategic plan. Teachers and Parents identified project-based learning that would facilitate long-term learning and apply to the workforce. Cordrey highlighted the importance of student-based learning, where students facilitate active learning by finding their voice in their education. Moreover, businesses are seeking ownership of projects. This opens the opportunity for internships for students scheduling student experiences beyond the classroom. https://ow.ly/BPpe50PSVZr

🌟 What an incredible Intern Team Building Day we had at Crabbe yesterday for our 2024 Government of Jersey Internship Programme!🌟 A huge thank you to Gemma McGregor the Jersey Youth Service, our wonderful colleagues at CYPES, and my amazing colleagues in the Talent Team for making this event such a success. The group of 41 interns who attended learned a range of invaluable skills, including: Effective Communication: Understanding the importance of clear and concise communication in a team setting. Problem-Solving: Developing creative solutions to overcome challenges. Teamwork: Building trust and working collaboratively to achieve common goals. Leadership: Taking initiative and guiding peers through various activities. Adaptability: Adjusting to new situations and thinking on their feet. It was awesome to see everyone working together across departments to produce this amazing event. Grateful for the opportunity to bond, grow, and have fun together. Here’s to many more collaborative and enriching experiences ahead! 💪🤝✨ Many thanks to Gemma for producing this wonderful reel to sum up the day! #Governmentofjersey #TeamBuilding #Internship #Collaboration #Extraordinaryeveryday #LearningAndDevelopment #Teamwork #Gratitude #SkillBuilding

LaunchGVL is a partnership of Greenville Chamber and Greenville County Schools. This work-based learning (WBL) internship program provides internship experiences for high school juniors and seniors. Hollingsworth works to increase opportunities for paid WBL experiences as a way to increase the percentage of students graduating from high school who are prepared for college or career. The goal of WBL opportunities is to cultivate the development of a skilled workforce and a responsive workforce system that meets the needs of business and industry leading to sustainable growth, economic prosperity, and global competitiveness. Students who participate in WBL experiences are more likely to gain postsecondary credentials and labor market rewards in high-demand fields than students who do not participate. LaunchGVL’s student application deadline is coming up January 19. The students had free time this past friday, and one if my little 1st graders drew a picture of me and him! This internship has truly shown me how important learning skills like drawing and handwriting is. This article expands on how drawing is beneficial to student learning and child development. https://lnkd.in/gbeVDXjz

I judge myself by my intentions, while others judge me by my actions..... My son just finished up his freshman year in college. Great kid (just like my daughter, I couldn't be more proud of them!) As summer approached, I suggested (strongly) that he get himself set up for his summer internship and also get enrolled for a summer JUCO class. At first, he said he'd get these done by the end of the week. Then next Wednesday, and then......etc. - he was kicking the can down the road. I get it. The conversation we had wasn't about not getting these things done. It was about integrity. We talked about being a man of your word. When you say you'll get it done by x, get it done by x, period. Or, effectively communicate that the task will not be done by x, and here is the reason why, and when you'll get it done by. That's integrity son. These are the terms we live by.

Higher Education Executive Leader | Transforming lives through Higher Education | Lifting student and staff voices while fostering welcoming and inclusive campus communities
I am so happy to meet with our students — whether it’s 2 or 12 or 20:— to learn about their Cougar Experience, what we do well, and areas we could do better. Today we spent quite a bit of time on internships. #GoCoogs #studentaffairs #studentsuccess #highereducation #studentvoice
Dr. Daniel Maxwell, our Associate VC/VP of Student Affairs, hosted “Donuts with Dr. Dan” session with his fellow colleagues Dr. Monica Thompson, Executive Director of University Career Services and Dr. Anne Dayton, Director of the Cougar Initiative to Engage (CITE). The students shared their perspectives about internship opportunities and their cougar experience. The conversation was insightful, affirming, and filled with helpful feedback on the students experiences at UH. Thanks for coming out to chat, Coogs!
