🥍🏅🏈Common Sports Injuries in Children ⛹🏽️Sprains and Strains: These are the most frequent injuries and account for about 30% of all sports-related injuries in children. Telemedicine has proven to be useful in the initial assessment and management, reducing the need for immediate in-person visits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, 84.8% of orthopedic surgeons used telemedicine, with 75% for new patient evaluations. 🩼Fractures: About 775,000 children 14 years and younger attend emergency departments for fractures each year. Telemedicine facilitates follow-up care and rehabilitation avoiding travel for families. According to research, 80.8% of orthopedic surgeons use telemedicine for postoperative patients. 🧠Concussions: Sports and recreational activities lead to about 21% of all traumatic brain injuries among American children. Telemedicine plays a crucial role in follow-up care and remote monitoring. Many schools and sports organizations have adopted telemedicine for sideline evaluations. ❎Overuse Injuries: These injuries, such as tendinitis and stress fractures, are common in sports like running and swimming, affecting millions of young athletes annually. Telemedicine is a useful tool for follow-up care. Growth Plate Injuries: These injuries are particularly common in children and adolescents, accounting for 15-30% of all childhood fractures.
