Building AI Tools For Job Hunting and Cover Letter Writing

Sairah Chaudry I agree with you. besides that, in the old days a cover letter was important to highlight the personality of the applicant other than the relevance of the CV to the position... now if a cover letter is made with AI, what is the point? Maybe as it was just said, it could be relevant for junior / graduate roles but for experienced roles then the CV (and the names on the CV) speak for themselves
even if there isn't a cover letter, there are frequently interest based questions in the application. hopefully this can also assist with that
I have experiemented with using chatGPT and the like to review or revise my cover letters and though it has been helpful on some minor points it still suffers from various problems incuding: * Hallucinations - emphasing skills that are not supported by your CV as they are facts * "this looks like its written by chatGPT" As a software engineer, I feel that the act of creating a tool to do something as a 'weekend' project and putting that on your CV or profile maybe combined with an appropriate online course ought to be more impactful.
do we still need a cover letter though? is it even read by someone?
Welcome to the stream! 👋
Elisa Della Scala with you on this. That's why if its optional I may sometimes not even submit it because I don't know if time investment on cover letter is worthwhile
Elisa Della Scala at times it is, probably do not need it but I use cover letter to actually attach a piece of work that makes me valuable to the company
👏👏👏
Missed the beginning of the stream? Ishaaq's full session will be available from our LinkedIn page after the show!

1moFrancisco Quintana I just have the feeling that if the first screening is done with ATS then what's the point of the cover letter if the CV already contains the right words in it...?
