The problem with discussing George Floyd is how impactful the unedited, "from the street" video was. The video made overshadowed other issues that needed to be considered.
The audio of the street video is so intense we can hear George Floyd's voice slowly fading. It is possible that Floyd's voice actually carried to the camera microphone more directly and clearly than what Chauvin was able to hear from his position above Mr. Floyd.
There are 3 pieces of evidence that were never introduced that did taint the trial and verdict at a racially charged time.
1. Chauvin was advised to not bring up his restraint method he had used in a prior situation that was basically identical to the restraint method he used with Mr. Floyd. This was a really big deal because the previous time Chauvin used this technique the suspect did not die. This prior instance should have been brought up to show that Chauvin's actions were not racially motivated, they were actually motivated based on the size disadvantage Chavin was facing in both instances. Also, Chauvin was not reprimanded the first time, so he thought he could use the previously tried hold method when necessary. Both times Chauvin used his hold method on a larger person who outweighed Chauvin by 75 pounds or more.
2. The District Attorney refused to grant amnesty to Floyd's allegedly drug using associates in the car, which is insane since it completely goes to the narrative that Floyd was already in danger of an overdose when he swallowed his remaining drugs so the Police would not see the drugs on his body.
3. George was super calm and super cool in his own cramped car with his friends, but claimed claustrophobia when he entered the police car and reacted violently, this most likely convinced Chauvin he could not trust Floyd.
4. Did Chauvin use poor judgement when he refused to listen to the gathering crowd claiming Floyd was in distress? Once 2 people in the crowd identified themselves as healthcare workers, one a paramedic, and one a nurse, Chauvin should have allowed them to check on Floyd's condition.
5. The claim that Floyd was a family man was outrageous.
If the first 3 points above had been entered as evidence when determining the charge, then a charge of accidental manslaughter would have sufficed instead of the desire to make this a racially divisive incident. Chauvin should get a new trial due to Prosecutor misconduct by not giving amnesty to Floyd's associates, and poor advice from his Attorney regarding not bringing up his prior use of the same restraint hold. Additionally, the Attorney chose to blame the crowd for begging Chauvin to stop which just inflamed an already world wide story even more.
